During that time period of 1998 as this film was coming out to theaters former NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte had Small Soldiers on his car the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Pontiac. The only races I could think of that Labonte had his Small Soldiers car was at Daytona the Pepsi 400 in the fall because of the wildfires that occurred in Florida that rescheduled the event and the Winston 500 race at Talladega Superspeedway just before the rescheduled Daytona race that became the first under the light race. But other races I couldn't remember that Labonte raced the Small Soldiers car. I know he had the Hulk on his car to in 2003.
