Beautiful footage of a beautiful part of the country. I lived in the Eastern Cape for a few years ablong time ago. I've been living away from South Africa for far too long, but I visit every single chance I get. Heading down south next week for some sweet times on the road and then again in June for 3 blissful months of exploration. Thanks for sharing 💕

I love stopping at every single padstal when I travel (it drives my partner crazy because I stop literally EVERY time I see one haha. My goodness...your shots of Nieu Bethesda are phenomenal, really enjoyed seeing everything, THANK YOU ! I do feel like I need a full 2 weeks in the town to see all of Nieu Bethesda lol. Sam (New Places To Go - haven't figured out how to set up my new youtube channel yet lol)
@likeatourist6 ай бұрын
That's so funny because I do the exact same thing. I always want to see how each padstal is different and I even give them a little rating in my head. More importantly, you really would need around 2 weeks in Nieu-Bethesda to get through all of it. In fact, one of the main reasons "Nieu-Bethesda" isn't in the title of this video is because we want to return and do a full video about this small town over a week. Can't wait to see your content when you return to NB.

Gariep Dam wall has tours that you can go on INSIDE the dam wall, it's a hollow construction & they will take you down to the bedrock that the wall stands on, so you are standing on the base of the wall with the weight of millions of tons of water above you. I'ts an incredible learning experience that I would recommend.

We recently came across the channel, and my wife and children can't get enough of the many videos we've watched. They feature some of the small towns we passed during our trip from Johannesburg to Knysna three years ago. Your most recent video has made us want to redo that road trip and break it up into smaller segments this time, to truly enjoy some of the towns we passed. Keep it up. Great South African content. I hope you'll do a trip down to my home province of the Eastern Cape soon, specifically the Wild Coast which is where I grew up.

I'm not sure about the "daunting" N1, but this is definitely how one should journey through SA. Some of the lesser national roads are fantastic
@likeatourist6 ай бұрын
We only used the word "daunting" because I've driven that route a bunch of times in the last six months and it really hits you hard when you've been driving for 8 hours and you're not even half way. To your point, it's my hope that more people will stop over in these small towns and explore a bit rather than just drive through while hurrying to the destination.
