We just bought a 2020 235RLS. Excellent condition. My first comment was "valances UGH" BUT: I'm willing to overlook the 70's look for the sturdiness of the unit as a whole. With that said, one of my first big projects will be to replace the carpet around the slider/dinette. Travelling with dogs and just general kitchen cleanliness is the reason. We'll see about the bedroom area carpet later. Second project. Replace the Valances with anything other than what is there. One thing I notice that is still the same from 2020-2023 design is the closed/travel configuration is the access to the bathroom is pretty tough, unless you are a skinny Minny! The extra counter space that juts out with the spice rack below and the slider/dinette is a very tight squeeze.
@jaybird4095 Жыл бұрын
Very nice small 5ver. This is the size range we are looking for. I really do not like the darker browns. The interior reminded me of the early 80's. Our current TT is very brown inside, and on those gloomy days, it's just to dark. I'm glad they still have a two way frig. On a small 5ver, you have to make sacrifices. The bathroom might be one, I wish they would consider a sliding door by the steps. What I did not hear you comment on was power, 30 or 50 amp. The other was cold weather ratings. The other thing I am not sure I like, is having the power disconnect switch in the water utility cabinet. If they keep it there, I wish they would raise it up higher for more protection from an accidental soaking.

I like it. Lose the dinette for a futon that will sleep a 6 footer. It is old school looking. It reminds me of a Lance cabinet camper. Will need the 2nd air. I like the curvy cabinet. If it stands up to November in Colorado, it'd be my pick for a hunting wagon. The fridge would get swapped for a 12v that would fit in there. Boondocking is done with solar nowadays. Bathroom landscape is a no-go for mamma.

I own a 2014 253RLS and love it. The shower is awesome with good elbow room standing sideways, and I use the bench seat to prop my legs on for washing and drying (yes, I am elderly and not as flexible as when I was young), the toilet stall is just the right size and I use the edge of the doorway as a grab bar. I have done quite a few alterations and a pocket door to the bedroom wouldn't work as there is no clearance space behind the awesome 12V charging station and the electrical outlet to the left of the bedroom doorway (which I use for an electric heater). A previous model had a fold-down extension of the kitchen counter so one could access the kitchen and bathroom while the slideout was in. I much prefer the integrated peninsula and we just extend the slideout slightly to use the bathroom while traveling. The trash hole in the counter is also so convenient my wife wants one in our new kitchen. Plus, the garbage container is huge (we generate a lot of garbage). We also love the huge drawers under the bench seats. In fact, the storage options of this 235RLS are fantastic. I especially like the outside closet of the slide-out and the inside "pantry". On our snowbird trip this winter, while boondocking, I met a new RV owner who complained that his battery wouldn't keep a charge and so he couldn't run his 12V only refrigerator and had to continuously run a generator. I felt sorry for him as he couldn't use propane. We have had no problems with our two-way refrigerator, but I did watch a You Tube video (Irene Iron Travels) who had problems with their original two-way while traveling in the summer in Florida. Their trailer (Outdoors RV) was also made in Oregon. Perhaps those refrigerators work just fine out here in the less humid West. It is unfortunate that trailer buyers can't choose the interior decor, like we all do with our houses. Like all the commentators that dislike the wood color scheme of the Fox Mountain interior, I have a strong distaste for what they label "up-to-date" colors: grays and black and white inside colors. I couldn't feel comfortable inside one of these godawful gray or black and white boxes! Josh has the best suggestion: paint. I tow our 235RLS with a F-150 pickup and have no problems driving at the California speed limit of 55 MPH. I do not maintain that speed on the steep mountain grades out here in the West, instead driving like a heavily loaded freight truck in the truck lanes. My 3.5L Ecoboost has plenty of power and the truck's rear-end is the same as a 3/4 ton truck. In Oregon, the truck scales that are closed, generally have the scale left on (look for the red 0). I detached the loaded trailer, weighed the rear truck wheels, re-attached the trailer and obtained the hitch weight of my 235RLS. I then weighed both trailer axles, each axle separately, and then each individual wheel. All were within the maximum specified weights. I had plenty of time to accomplish the task as I was the only one using the closed scale. Thank you, Oregon Department of Transportation!

Nice! The decor isn't bad, it's nice and warm. Except for the curtains and valences. But those are easy to change. Not a fan of the floors, but I bet it hides dirt and muddy dog prints well. Great space in the kitchen. I'd push the opening to the trash further back on the counter, if possible, to maximize counter space. Perfect spot for the trash can. Why is is so difficult for some to give a spot for one? I like this arrangement where you can access the can itself from the inside, so you don't have to go outside to change it. I like the set up for the bathroom. I can't believe the toilet closet has a max size fan! I was not expecting that, I figured it would be a little fart fan, since the room is small. I am sure a lot of people won't like it, but I love the openness of the bathroom with no wall. I don't like the accordion doors to the space, but it doesn't like like there were other options. The shower looks great, btw. A north/south bed! Excellent! They have the best side tables. Nice 5th wheel. It's a different layout, a better one in my opinion. The more I look at the bathroom/bedroom set up, the more I like it.

dinette and couch pleather reminds me of going into a Denny's back in the early 1970's, maybe they want to start sourcing fabric from the 1980's and then we can bring the disco ball. might be just a camera issue but looks like the doors on the cabinets in the kitchen and entertainment area are a completely different color from body of the cabinets. door stop at the bedroom entry looks like a skull crusher if you aren't careful coming up those too fast, might be better if they just add a stop on the upper door hinge., not digging the curtain separators or lack of storage in the bedroom. overall the whole vibe is like they decided to remain in the 1970's which may be good or bad depending on if you like it or not, as for me i would pass on this one but thanks for giving us a tour.

I'm surprised the carpet was not shag and the appliance were not avocado or coppertone. Really that interior looks like a set from a 70's TV show. Now as to your question about what I would use that plug under the table for... Absolutely nothing, I doubt I could bend down in that cramped space to plug anything into it and still be able to stand back up. If those are 2 inch walls, why can't they run power in them and move the plug up higher in the wall say at table height. I love the wonderful quality of constructions, but that is about it. I said the same thing! We have a 2020 FM 235RLS! Believe it or not, the skylight does add headroom. I’m 6’1.5 feet tall and I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how roomy this shower was. So much so I didn’t bother with the campground shower.

I don't know, Josh. Besides the weird bathroom layout and dated interior, having almost 2,000 pounds at the hitch is a little much for such a small fifth wheel. I get that it's beefy and well built but yikes!

Funny. I like the toilet in a room all by itself.

I agree with you Tom, having a bathroom in the bedroom is completely gross! And so is that ugly flooring!!

Am I the only one that would prefer a 2 way fridge.

Definitely not. I see plenty comments with a variety of preferences

The piece you caught your butt on and broke is a bad design.I only caught a glimpse of it when you had it down it looked like it didn’t have any support.Looks to me that those two pieces will always be broke.The rest of it may be solid (your words not mine) but that trim isn’t .I have to also agree with other viewers about the interior being dated.You don’t have to worry about it getting old it’s already old.I’m 61 years old and the colors are two dated for me. That’s my 2 cents worth.

cant believe they are still using these panels around the dinette, poor design and so out of date and looks like sh--t.

I like the olde looking interior if just looks built right interiors now a days just look all the same and I’m not a fan of bright colours and blue lights like your in night club

Luan and shag carpet aside, the 70's called and they want their interior design back. What's with those draperies? Grandma Bright would be envious. For such a 'well built coach' they seem to lack a fulltime living warranty. Odd.
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
My understanding is they take care of people pretty well on the support side regardless

Oh the poor interior - it has quality but the style looks vintage retro from the 80’s

Doesn't _Look like_ an 80's decor... it quite literally _is_ an 80's decor lol :)

In Texas or anywhere, we’ll never buy a single AC again in our life. No rv should come single unless there only 16 feet.

Around here we can get away with it on smaller stuff (especially rvs with better insulation pkgs) But in your neck of the woods I 100% get it

I think more RV OEM’s would be smart to hire more modern interior designers, as the market starts changing generations many young people wouldn’t be caught dead or on IG in something like that

Wow looks like an interior from the 70s. What a shame, time to get a new interior decorator. This makes me a Grand Design guy...

they should absolutely at least offer a 12V fridge with more than enough solar to power the fridge.

I get the desire for a diet, but what's lost would be stuff like structure... I don't like giving that up if I can help it

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT like that ugly brown/white flooring!! Also, the bathroom, I DON'T like the bathroom divided, it NEEDS to be all in one area, NOT across the hall from each other!

Love this trailer, with the slide in how much room would there be with the option of regular table and 4 chairs?
@JoshtheRVNerd Жыл бұрын
Apologies I am unsure. I’ve only seen it this way

The Northwood Mfg. - Fox Mountain 235RLS in the Brochure has option for table and 4 chairs, Like in the Arctic Fox 295T has, which we have and this table will move side to side for more room. I was just wondering if it would make a difference if you slide the table to the other direction, If this would give you more room to walk around between the table and countertop. I'm going to measure our table in our Arctic Fox 295T and next show going check it out. Thank you for the fast answer. @@JoshtheRVNerd
