Step 1: Get a with shovel (or any other tool) in hand Step 2: type /repl 1 then //perf neighbors off (to disable block interactions) Now you left click to copy a block and right click to paste it. So place a fern (or anything) on to a block(where it can be placed) now copy it (with left click) and then you can paste anywhere by placing a temporary block and pasting the fern (with right click). And it's not even only ferns but different state of states, walls fence. Ever wanted to have two fences next to each but don't want them to connect well just paste them in (just remember to not cause any block updates)

Joels theme really reminded me of Scaverngers Reign. Sci-fi theme where people discover an alien planet full of life. Ecxept Scavengers Reign's premise is that the people were stranded in the planet and trying to survive by learning everything beautiful and dangerous about it while and getting back home. So thats why Joel's overgrown ship reminds me of that show

you should really make hiding spots inside that room hidden behind the armor stands, rather than simply hiding among the armor stands... Maybe some button activated hiding spaces... Oh there's an idea; find an excuse to make a redstone factory for a build and then add all sorts of hiding spaces activated by random bits of redstone. Or just add a way to hide within the random circuitry under the floor...
