I remember watching this show as it aired on television and couldn’t wait for next week to watch the next episode. People nowadays can binge watch all the episodes at once so the characters’ flaws are magnified. Clark, Lex, and Lana were the reasons the show became so popular. I was told out of all the main cast, Kristin was the most searched online, even more than Tom Welling. She was in all the teen magazines.

Regarding the suggestion of doing the Smallville comics for the podcast, I think it would be interesting if they started doing reviews on other CW DC shows like Arror and Flash--or if they want to stay in Superman territory do rewatches of other Superman related shows like "Lois and Clark" or "Superman and Lois". Obviously they would need to book actors from those shows for insider commentary.
@Carla_FT8 ай бұрын
Why? That's not the point at all of the podcast
@Emeraldnite-if7vo8 ай бұрын
@@Carla_FT Eventually they are going to run out of episodes, so if they want the podcast to keep going without changing the format too much they are going to need to find possibly other things to talk about that may be Smallville/DC related. Like how the "Delta Flyers" podcast was about looking back at episodes of Voyager but once they ran out of episodes they moved on to DS9 with cast members from that show.

I'll be honest, Talkville has been kind of a letdown. It was originally marketed as a "behind the scenes tell all." But neither Tom/Mike seem to "recall" much. 😂 1) They spend most of each pod doing episode recaps. As fans, we've obviously seen all the eps and know the plots. 2) When Tom/Mike try to give insight about their time on the show, it's mostly guessing and speculation since neither of them remember much from filming. 3) Sadly, they make fun of the show a ton like it's a Smallville version of Mystery Science Theater: 3000. It honestly sucks that they don't take it more seriously with respect. 4) Originally, they said that all fans could call in to ask questions. But it very quickly became a Patreon only privilege. So it's pretty much the same people asking questions every podcast.
@Chinachik8 ай бұрын
Dude, tbf, it’s been 20+ yrs since they filmed those early seasons. I doubt most people can recall exactly what they were doing at work everyday two decades ago. 😂 I get what you mean about how the podcast has evolved though. I think it eventually became what it did because they assumed they’d remember more bts stuff, but realized how it took rewatching the eps to actually ignite some memories that fans would be interested to hear about.
@ryandeffley76528 ай бұрын
@Chinachik - With Tom especially, the show was his entire life for 10yrs. Also, looking back 20yrs isn't that difficult with a regular memory. 😆
@ben84478 ай бұрын
@@ryandeffley7652 I agree with you. I have stopped watching it now. Used to annoy me how they would talk through the episode and talk about key scenes and break it all down and then...have some poor Patron member who has paid a ridiculous amount of money to have the honor of asking a question and what happens? Michael says "yeah, we already talked about that, and then Tom, who is the more mindful of the two, will give a bit of a courtesy answer, but in the end, the fan gets short changed. And Michael is obviously a hugely immature man child, who is all over the spectrum and basically lives in his own little world. You can see it in this interview. " diarrhoea!" He's a tool
@Chinachik8 ай бұрын
@@ryandeffley7652 But remembering more than a few vague points here and there is a bit more complicated than just recalling some random regular memories about being on set, especially when you’re referring to working on a series with as many episodes as Smallville, particularly with an ensemble cast, various directors and so many scenes filmed out of sequence. Besides, I like the podcast as it is now. Especially when they go down memory lane with costars and guest stars. I think that’s a very cool format. It’s sort of like what Kim Coates and Theo Rossi do for Sons of Anarchy.

Couldn’t agree more : there’s actually a lot of people who like that character ! Without Lana, the show’s dynamic would have been completely different … and maybe smallville would not have been as successful especially at the beginning without this Lex Lana Clark trio … Let’s not forget that her character evolved so much especially in season 6 when she becomes a darker character
@jetia71008 ай бұрын
@@lragdy Exactly. There's a reason why Kristin's episode of Talkville outside of the pilot is still the most watched. There's been a lot of revisionist history but Lana was always a popular character, especially during the first few seasons. The negativity that now gets directed at Lana actually seems like misplaced anger and people taking out their frustrations regarding other things onto her. It's a shame because Lana had one of the most interesting story arcs in Smallville and positively contributed a lot to the series.
