I know some will disagree but in some ways this episode was harder then the last , Clark dealing with his fathers death & his mom gets mugged & getting all vengeful & that end scene with Clark wearing the watch & seeing his dad still gets me 15 years later.

June 2022 here and each time after that "buh-bye" from Jonathan and Clark letting it all out finally in his mom's arms, still makes my waterworks flow. It hits harder when between when this episode first aired on then-WB34 and now in 2022, when you have lost quite a few dear family members. This hits so much harder. 😢

@@crazyman7671 I feel for you dude. I can’t imagine how hard it’s gonna be when my mother’s time comes. We butt heads a lot but she’s my rock, no matter what. Honestly, I’ve not had much for a good family/parental model, outside of my mother for most of my life. This scene always makes me realize that I wanna be what Jonathan was to Clark to my own kid, someday. It makes me feel sad and somber. But at the same time, it inspires me. Crazy how media can do shit like that to you

Really sad they created this Angel of Vengeance character because DC wouldn't allow Batman on Smallville. But Bruce Wayne could have really pulled down Clark as the leading character. Or got Lex Luther cancelled for Bruce. But in official canon Superman doesn't meet Batman until after they're fully developed heroes that need equal partners. The Green Arrow Oliver character was over written to fill that Bruce Wayne character void.

Oof... Despite everything, Lana went to Metropolis to find the watch for him. Just because she understands. She had a necklace to remind her of her parents, after all. They've always been able to connect that way. And Lana is just such an empathetic character, even sometimes to her detriment. It's been like, what?,15 years since this season aired and yeah. Smallville feelings always pull me back in. It's rough, buddy. RIP Pa Kent.

I have always admire superman/Clark Kent and smallville is and was my favorite tv series, I remember watching this episode 15 years ago and losing it by the thought of losing my father one day, since him and jonathan were very much alike. In 2011, I lost my father to a heart attack just like Jonathan and everytime I see this I'm broken because like Clark I lived it.

Jonathan always dies before Martha. He didn't die on Lois and Clark but he would have if the show had went on. Even though this show is about Clark, John Schneider and John Glover (Jonathan and Lionel) were always the best actors.

I don’t know if you are into FanFiction but I just remembered after seeing this espisode that there are one of the best Smallville FanFiction ever, where the girl here has an important role. Really is a great story based in the comic serie of superman “injustice, Gods among us”. This guy wrote an Smallville version and is really awesome. This is, in case you are interested. Anyway I think is bette to read it later, if you want, because there’s some characters in the story that still hasn’t been introduced in SV. m.fanfiction.net/s/8982325/1/Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-Smallville-Style

Thats one thing I don't get as much Clark is super even if another super person hits him it should be like 2 regular people fighting maybe fall over and if they do hit something it break but they are on level ground it's one thing when they hit a regular person and they fly back. They take vehicles crashing into them and don't move so 2 super people fighting should look the same as 2 normal people fighting unless one dodges and they shatter a wall or an object behind them

The "bye bye" from Jonathan killed me😭. Now you know why most don't like lex, because the accumulative shit he's done and will do in Future. The show really drives you to hate lex little by little. It's kinda messed up.

What the hell are you talking about? Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor is one of the most beloved characters from Smallville not to mention that this is the best live action Lex Luthor ever. "Now you know why most don't like lex" Dude, did you even watch episode 5x12? Jonathan died because of Clark and Lana. Lex had nothing to do with it. A very small minority of Smallville fans actually blame Lex for Jonathan's death. it was clear in episode 12 that Lana was destined to die but Clark being Clark decided to play God and ignore Jor El's warning, he reversed time which resulted in his beloved Lana living and his father dying in her place. That scene with Lex and Lana had nothing to do with her "death". She was destined to die, if she didn't die in a car accident, she would've died some other way. Clark changed her destiny and in doing so he condemned his own father to die in her place ( without realizing ). Lex haters are usually Lana fans who defend her no matter what she does and hating on Lex comes with the package so to speak.
