My father moved to Richlands in the late forties after WWII. He was an OB GYN and during his practice he delivered over 12,000 babies. He and my mother adopted me in 1968 and I lived in Richlands until I was in my forties. In many ways Richlands will always be home. Not so much because of the town, but because of the people. Many of them I will always consider family. Thanks for the great video of a wonderful little town. It made me a little homesick.

A lot of my people came from Richlands. My parents, Grandparents and a lot of cousins. My Grandfather John Henry Mullins sr. owned a taxi service, Restaurant, hotel etc... back around the thirties and forties. I never lived there but have good memories of visiting from over in Buchanan county when i was a kid. Always thought it was the cleanest, most beuatiful place on earth because coming from a coal camp called Big Rock, in the fifties Va it sure looked different to me. Speaking of the S&H Green stamps, my Mother bought a lot of us kids stuff with those. She would save them and get books filled and then get things we needed. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it very much.

I worked in other areas who literally would build a structure old timey have town meetings to discuss "folklore stories" to drive up tourism which im sure happens, but its always nice to hear a old timey story teller who by some randon chance is actually on a pro level telling stuff anyone can fact check and verify

I stumbled in your channel by accident and I'm enjoying watching your journey across the Appalachians. We're a military family stationed in VA Beach and after my husband's retirement stayed there. I'm so glad to know more beautiful and historic places in western parts of VA like Richlands, Burke's Garden etc. I'm hoping to visit these places and all those towns you've shown in your channel. I've always been in awe of the Appalachians. Thanks for these videos and information about these towns.

What a great tag line to finish off a very interesting and heartwarming video! :) "Dad" has a couple years on me, but I agree with him that the 70's were a great time to be growing up. :)

Richlands was also part of my delivery route for National Linen and Alsco Linen from 1992 to 2020. Even delivered some Coca Cola there in the early 80s. Wonderful people and memories. I didn't realize King Kone was gone! It used to be so busy. But the only constant is change. Great video. Thanks!

Awww I was so excited to see you did a video on Richlands, a place we’ve visited all our lives growing up. But I loved that you interviewed dad for this video!!!!! That is so special ♥️♥️ I loved hearing him talk about the area and talk about his memories there. And I enjoyed seeing the gentleman in the beginning talk about his business and how it has a coal theme to it… very cool! Great video!!!

Randomly stumbled across your WV video then found the Richlands video. We moved to NC from W Raven in 88 I believe. Your dad would have graduated right in between my parents. My parents Gary and Gail Shelton were actually good friends with a Scott and Karen Deel, probably of some relation to you guys. Love the video series, I had to watch this one twice.
