I don't think I ever had a car with an arm rest. I wouldn't miss it ;o). Regarding the door handles, they come out when the car is unlocked. I just want them to not break and am curious to see how it goes with frost. The 22kW charging is a plus but I'll probably never use it (charge at home ... or DC when on a long trip). When I looked at all the cars that were on the market, comparing the features (within an acceptable budget), this one came on top. I discovered this car when I checked the EuroNCAP rankings ... this car really is under the radar for most people. This car has all you can wish for (except maybe a better route planner ... which can hopefully be improved with a software update). I wasn't even planning to buy a car (just looking at the market). Ordered 1 month ago my Smart #3 Premium Ceramic/Brown ... eager to get it.

The rear armrest probably wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either, but I still prefer to have it if given the chance. Same with the ski pass through, I'd certainly rather have it than not 😄 But I agree with you mainly, it looks like a good car. I would love to have the 22kW AC, it's perfect for cheaper charging during lunch or a shopping trip! Congrats on the car, I'd love to know your impressions once you've had a chance to drive it for a bit!

@@siasek I tested the car twice. 20 minutes at first, and a week later 2 hours and then bought it. It was great to drive and I could test a lot of stuff (including the google maps navigation that works with the HUD). I'll try to drop another comment once I have it and used it a bit more.

That's great, what version did you get? Will you have it soon? I really like the car overall! Are you going to have a 22 kW AC on-board charger?

Interesting offer from Smart, would be good to see how it handles real world testing. The AC charging will likely be more prominent in the next years with cars having batteries of over 100kWh, but not sure it's worth it over the 11kW one. Depends on cost, I suppose, but I would argue 11 kW 3 phase charging should be the bare minimum. I think the door handles might be an aero improvement and give it a more flush, clean look. The only issue I would have with them is in winter, if they would freeze, something a few owners of retractable door handle cars complained. PS: you scared me a bit at the end, seems the volume jumped a few decibels for a bit :D

I'm also looking forward to seeing real-world tests other than the ones from paid youtubers from the first wave already! 😁 The advantage is that there is no extra cost for cars with a 22 kW charger, for me it's definitely an advantage. But I also consider the 11 kW to be basic, I wouldn't get a car without it. Definitely in winter these door-handles are a problem and I don't believe the improvement in consumption is significant.. as far as looks, there are those handles which don't stick out but you can still grab them from the bottom..those would be sufficient in my opinion. Just anytime I've had to use this type of door handle it's been awkward, perhaps one gets used to it. Sorry about the but at the ending, it's exactly 3.1 dB louder! I over-clicked a bit 🙈🙉

@@siasek that's okay Fina, it was just unexpected, and my initial reaction was that I did something :)) I definitely agree that 22kW would always be better, but we are also seeing more and more accessible cars, and if there's a price difference to having 11 instead of 22, maybe it's not worth it as I really really want more cheap EVs out there. As VW is taking their sweet time to replace the e-up! EV, in the meantime we have to accept certain compromises. But for medium/high end cars, 22kW should be the norm, agreed. Has the pricing for this version been announced yet? I haven't seen any conclusive data yet... Btw, happy new year, forgot to say that :) !

It's definitely understandable to make some compromises for the sake of more affordable EV options, but also the Renault ZOE, for example, had 43kW AC charging and that was quite affordable.. though I suppose the ZOE did have other compromises. In Germany, the basic PRO version costs €38,490, the top-of-the-range Brabus version is priced at €50,990. Delivery time for the basic version is 4-6 weeks, for the Brabus 14-16 weeks. 🙂 Thank you for the wishes and a happy new year to you as well! I hope this is the year we will get to see more affordable EV options with fewer quality compromises hit the market. I'm definitely looking forward to sodium-ion battery solutions to start rolling out this year! 🤞
