Whilst it is much more complicated and fiddly I used the rocker switches to switch to the lighting directly. Mine is a 12 volt off grid system so there is no electrocution risk. I wont speculate on the layout of a mains system suffice to say it would be very different for safety reasons. The reason for doing this is so as to provide redundancy should the ESP32 be damaged. This happened during a monsoon flood.

Can you please clarify where the QR code at 10:11 is derived ? That looks like a website. Is the ESP acting like a website? If so, how did you get there?

ESP generates a url request which is shown at the bottom of serial monitor. This url shall be pasted in a browser to see the url with QR code.
