I'd be interested in a modelling tutorial on using Plus Spec for architectural modelling more than BIM. Parametric, editable entities that could mean less time spent during revision would more than pay that $75/mo easily for pros. Especially because a model can be marketed to new clients more readily if it is tweak friendly.

Plusspec requires it's own training video series. Ill pay for that.
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
I believe Plusspec has their own library of training videos that come with the extension...
@andrewdwight57445 жыл бұрын
Yes the training videos are built into the tools at the top rhs of every tool. Also the orange tabs on the left have image help.

For that price you might as well get revit lite

Any idea if there is a way to import in bulk libraries in Plus Spec. An example would be all the Universal Beams or Universal Columns or Rectangular Hollow Sections from the FREE app "The Engineering Toolbox". As far as I'm concerned The Engineering Toolbox has everything for £0 whilst Plus Spec has virtually nothing in terms of steel structural elements for £500.

I don't know the answer to this as I haven't tried it - you'd have to ask the PlusSpec guys directly

Before you do any further videos on Plusspec it's probably a good idea to get the next version as it has a lot of improvements over the version shown.

Lol - well this video is 2 years old... :) I'll make sure that I've downloaded the most recent version though - thanks!

Thanks so much Justin. But I don't like to rent apps. If I like it and think I'm going to need it, I buy it for life or forget about it

Hi Alberto - totally get it. I'm kind of the same way - the trouble is some extensions like this one and like Placemaker require either ongoing maintenance or payment for data usage, so they go to a subscription model. I'm sure the idea with this one is to get builders and architects to build their workflow around it and keep using it for years. Thanks so much for the comment!
@Z-add6 жыл бұрын
Alberto Trejos they used to be over $2000. They later went with subscription model. Individuals cannot justify the rental cost but companies can.
@andrewdwight57445 жыл бұрын
It does have an online library that requires maintenance. Basically you can log in from any computer and have all of your custom materials and geo located materials syncronise, you don't lose work. I agree subscriptions are a pain yet there is a lot going on here and updates are frequent so users always have the latest technology.

Plusspec is not only a BIM tool but also a MEP tool.

Thank you very much for this powerful plug-in, however i agree with Mr. Alberto Trejos, i don't like to rent an application. If i need it I buy it for life time and maybe buy its updates if it is adding value.
@Thesketchupessentials7 жыл бұрын
Totally fair comment - I think that's the unfortunate thing about working with an extension that has constant updates (new products, etc) - there's recurring costs associated with adding new content, but it does leave us with this pricing model sometimes. Thanks for your feedback!

Hi there - I don't believe this will do what you're looking for - I'm pretty sure there's not CNC functionality in this extension. Hope this answered your question!

Very good plugin but i dont like 'monthly/yearly subscribe'. When it expired, the plugin no longer work until you have to purchase it again. I rather bought Lumion 8 even it expensive as hell because it has no expired. If Lumion 9 or 10 release soon, it depend on you for upgrading, but if you wont upgrade, your Lumion 8 still can be use. This type of software worth buying. Plusspec , Vali they are good plugin tho. But those 'subscribe' thing make em not worthy at all.
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
Fair comment - a lot of people don't like the recurring cost model, which I totally understand. That said, for me it really depends on what it is and how it nets out long term. Also, some extensions, like Placemaker, have to pay licensing fees for content that they use, so they have to charge a recurring cost to stay in business. Thanks!

Plus spec creates a 45 degree angle when 2 walls meet. There is no provision for extending or trimming walls where they intersect. there is no provision for snapinping lines at all. Not a verry realistic modeling tool at all
@Thesketchupessentials5 жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends on what you're trying to do, and the level of detail you're modeling to...I think PlusSpec is more designed to be a tool for creating smart models to be used for construction documents and Layout...
