Absolutely! You will find that you still can extend the page and do it even better, it’s just not labelled well. SMART Notebook is a free download for both a connected Windows or Mac machine. Just connect your computer the SMART Board and start using it. SmartNotebook 23 is unfortunately a big step backwards for this software franchise. The forced "select object" box as you write is atrocious and yes, don't get me started about the loss of the Extend Page feature. It's so frustrating having to View in SmartNotebook 22 each time I open a file.

Sorry to hear your frustration, the change over of security features and other rebuilds has unfortunately caused far more issues than expected. Extended page will be back in the next update, mid October. Pleased continue to send your feedback it is so valuable when it come to making Notebook right. Unfortunately after 13 happy years of using Smart notebook I am faced with frustration upon updating to 23. I can't scroll up or down as there is no scroll bar, nor can I swipe to turn the page. The missing extend page is an inconvenience also. I really fail to see the enhancement. I write this after the first day back to class. I hope I don't have more issues......

Really sorry to hear your frustrations. Many of these features are being worked on to be included again. In the meantime you will find them if you go to the menu and “open in notebook 22”.

I just updated my smart notebook app. And I was so confuse with the newest version and find it difficult to figuring out, how do I make the page longer down. Finally I got the answer in your video, thank you for the explanation! it's very helpful! :) But I have a question. In the previous version, we could set the background from cropped image to be transparent. In this version I can not find it. In the previous version, if we right-click on an image, an option "set this image's background to transparent" also an option "mask or edit mask" will appear. Are these features totally removed?

I'm pleased you found the answer and the video helpful. At the moment, to access those two features, from the top menu click "View > Notebook 22". This will enable you to open your file in the previous version and use "Mask" and "Image transparent". I have also fed your comment back to the developers and they are working on a long-term solution. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for your comment, 2:20 into the video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXqkn5-jed6fqas ) I refer to the pages are now 16:9 ratio and there is the option to "Insert > New Page > Large 16:9 Page". This means that you can extend the page in all directions not just down. It also maintains the Ratio for printing etc. I have also fed your comment back to the developers and they are working on "Extend Page" as an additional option.

What would happen if I DO NOT update? I am currently running on 22.13769.0 and have about 132 lessons made and saved. I have been reading that my current lessons WILL NOT work well. I would have to loose all that work.

Hi, thanks for you interest. You will be pleased to know you will loose NOTHING! 👏🏻😁👏🏻 The significant security update will effect versions older that Version 21. You might have noticed that there are some great new updates in version 23.1, you can download that for free already. 😁

Hello, I am wondering if Notebook 2023 now has extend page, dual page display, and previous functions that were core to the older versions. If not, I am afraid, Notebook 2023 is still a downgrade. I would rather use it's predecessors.

Hi, Notebook 23.2 is now out and extended page is back! I'd definitely recommend upgrading to the latest version, there is a large security change coming at the end of 2023, which will affect older versions. Dual page is still being worked on, so hopefully, everything else will work well for you and that fix will arrive soon.

SO disappointed in Smartboard 23. You have gone backward and taken away a lot of great features that are now not available. I am desperately missing: extend page, mask feature, set image transparency, dual page display, and the ability to swipe on the page to go to the next page. Not sure why you would remove features in a new version!! Your only work around is to switch the view to open in Smartnotebook 22 - so why change!

Version 23 is a joke. I have been using this software for over 10 years and have 100's of lesson on Smart notebook . This new verson has evidently not been tested by real users. There are so many bugs. That's not the real issue. I use Dual Page for many of my lessons. I keep one page pinned with examples/learning intentions, hints etc and the other with the set classwork. It is so useful for so many things. WHY would you remove this ? It's bizarre ? 🤷‍♂ Presently we still have access to V22 but not sure for how much longer. V23 presently (Feb 24) is unusable (there are other bugs, as well as missing functionality) . I been a lead user of SMART software within the dept for many years ( I still miss using SMART response which was also brilliant) and have managed to convince others in my dept of the benefits of Notebook versus e.g. Powerpoint, OneNote etc. I am now seriously thinking of just stepping away from this and booting SMART into the long grass. I will be encouraging others up the chain (who do the purchasing) to do the same.

I’m pleased you have found “Open in V22”, we acknowledge that V23 had more bugs and issues than expected, and this is around to ensure everyone still has those great teaching and learning tools Notebook has to offer. Now with V23.2 many have been fixed, but still getting there. It is that Yellow button at the top of SMART Notebook. But also in Golumio.com. It offers more features than the older version and is sent out to student devices, no need for those extra handsets.
