This is the review of super powerful for its size Robot Arm from Amber robotics. It can be easily controlled without programming. This robotic arm has brushless motors, harmonic drives and cycloidal reducer! And it can handle the payload of half of its weight!

Amber Robotics team, this is a final wake-up call, we backers have been patient with you enough. I urge you to do the right thing and start the deliveries for the kickstarter backers who have paid you their hard earned money through the Lucid L1 project on kickstarter, else you have lost your face in all the global markets from where your majority revenue comes. It will be a sad day to see a promising company go down because of sheer dishonesty and greed. Having said that i promise you we will make it our mission to bring peoples attention that your company has scammed the very community that invested and supported you to grow; we will ensure you will eventually face the justice.

I wrote to Amber during the Kickstarter asking about torque control. They replied that torque control would be an extra ‘professional’ feature and not included in the Kickstarter. They didn’t give me a price, but said it would be ‘too expensive’ for a solo developer. A shame!

Hi, you always make awesome videos although I don't think this one had the usual quality and thoroughness, it probably didn't help that it was just a showcase of a pretty unremarkeable robot arm. Anyways, sorry for the unnecessary critique, I really admire the technology behind this kind of arms and I think they are really cool and interesting but I struggle to find practical usecases and applications for this, what would this kind of robot arm be used for?

Looks pretty cool, especially for the kickstarter price. However, the price on the webshop is a bit too much imho.

I was excited to see that they have a Python API, but as you pointed out in the video, I am nervous that I saw no torque interface. I only saw positional directives. I am interested to see how your revisit of your arm from 4 years ago (previous video) proceeds with Moteus controllers. I think that is an exciting direction for dynamic control (e.g. FOC).

Looks great but I do not understand why robot arms are so expensive

Its the gear reducers, harmonic drives are very very expensive

Just try to build one that is capable of moving significant weight while at the same time being accurate and reasonably slimline, then ask the question again (if you haven't already worked out the answer).

They sell several of their actuators on their website, ranging from $600 - $700. So it would cost more than they sell their 7 dof arm for to just buy the actuators. So that is a big part of the cost.

The arm did not replay the last few motions that you trained, was it unable to reproduce the inverted axis moves? Also it sounded as if there was a grinding in the gearbox durring replay, any thoughts on where this was coming from, or if it is a point of concern?

Impressive. I wonder if there is any advantage strapping an EDM machine to this arm.

eliminate all the wiring, with internal data over power lines
@conorstewart2214
@conorstewart2214 Жыл бұрын
That is a compromise and not a good one at that, especially when you have motors connected to the power lines which will create noise. You still then need a way to get the power lines to the end of the arm so it will not eliminate all the wiring at all. It would reduce the wiring but it wouldnt eliminate it. The best option is to just route the wiring through the metal structure of the arm so it is more protected.

@@Robotron-zg6mf how do you plan on running the usb data lines over the main power lines? That's just not going to work well, if at all. Also it doesn't matter if you have controllers right by the motors, motors still make noise on the power lines and noise on your data signals is never a great thing.
