Keeping relevant project information together shows once again that at this time, the Filter function of the linked references is one of the strongest tools in logseq. Thanks for the ideas in the video!

Linked references and filter is why I can't deal with other note taking tools, it's the first thing I always check.

Then you should use Dendron or Obisidian, even Trillium works better.
@__rikaisuru12 күн бұрын
@@halvarmc671 Eh, I disagree. The hierarchical structure of Trillium, Obsidian is the reason why I am using Logsec in the first place. "Where" the data is doesn't matter in my day to day life, especially if you have to sift through many data, and frankly the discoverability and the resurfacing are worse even after you "organize" everything.

Once the DB version hits I'll probably redo this video by showing how to make a basic structure that's more self sustaining. Are we talking about the internal links here so? so the ctrl+v and ctrl+e to copy link or block and then pasting it?
@fpigeonjr7 ай бұрын
@@toolsontech that would be great. Internal Links is what I needed help with. So I figured out I can `cmd+c` when I am in the parent block and then `cmd+v` where I want to store the internal link. I was selecting the entire block and then copy and pasting which is not what I wanted 😞. Thanks for the guidance.
@toolsontech6 ай бұрын
@@fpigeonjr That one happens often, exactly that for my internal linking and don't forget ctrl+e to copy a block embed as I use that all the time. You can also link by typing (( at any place as long as you know the sentence a bit, it's similar to [[ but there are a lot more search results obviously since you search in blocks and not pages.

@@toolsontech This is helpful. I have yet to think about the use-case for embedding. How do you decide whether to link or embed? Thanks for all the knowledge here.
@bgrolleman6 ай бұрын
@@fpigeonjr I mostly use embed for slipnotes where I build pages with knowledge and put snippets in an order. And similar when I'm prepping a meeting and I want all the details at a glance. Both make it easy to scroll and export. Links everywhere else.

This video's audio is 50% of average videos. Project Management is easier with Agile software like Kanban boards (that integrates with a calendar). Deprecated software is scrum/waterfall methods, however there still is a use for Gantt charts. Logseq looks like a work around, but really a plugin for Kanban would be better.
@toolsontech11 ай бұрын
That very much depends on the type of project, of you're working with a team and personal preference. As a scrum master I enjoy working with a board to move my team forward but on a personal level I much rather have lists. It's all a trade off, I do most of my tasks from Todoist, but it's hard to link to my notes from there. So for a lot of projects I use Logseq and just block my calendar to work on something specific.

what is the role of notion in your workflow
@toolsontech Жыл бұрын
I mostly use Notion to plan my video/content releases where I need to work together with others. Think proof reading the script, work on thumbnail ideas, etc... Logseq is very much a personal knowledge management tool, really looking forward to being able to share notes with others but until that time I'll need to deal with juggling a few apps.

had another thought from Tiago Forte's "Building A Second Brain". He recommends adding the following to the Project Kickoff Checklist: - **Capture**: my current thinking on the project - **Review**: pages or tags that might contain relevant notes - **Search**: for related terms across folders - **Move**: (link) relevant notes to the project folder - **Create**: an outline of collected notes and plan the project

not sure how well this adapts to Logseq though...
@toolsontech6 ай бұрын
I'm sure it could work as method of working is not the same as tool. Using Logseq as my central page to link notes, files, research together has been great. In the end the goal isn't even to have everything in my graph, but if I'm searching on a topic I will find everything it just points towards other sources (like google drive or Reader)

umm, I'm trying to shift over from microsoft to do to and app that is open source...Logseq is perfect. But the quick add widget in my phone (that's accessible right from the notification bar) + the ability to see my next actions on my phone home screen using their widgets has me pinned. What should I do ? (I do strict gtd now, so the fast capture is a must for me now. Opening Logseq app and logging stuff in capture just won't work. I have tried Markor but they don't have a widget for the notification bar.)

Got the exact same issue, this fact alone is why Todoist is still on my workflow. Quick add Todoist (both notes and tasks) and when I process my inbox behind the laptop I move it to Logseq At my current project I can't use cloud apps, but at work I'm nearly always near my laptop so there it's less of an issue. If anyone points me to a good solution for this you can bet that I'll be having a video on it asap

@@toolsontech yeah i would love being 100% open source -- i bet there is an android macro app that can do this (replace role of Quick add tasks & send anything that's captured in a 'In.txt'---idk how tho

I don't see why not, though Tana lacks a mobile app so if you have tasks that aren't behind a computer you might need a workaround for that.

I used Logseq for awhile and I just got tired of how messy it gets and how bad the stability is once you hit x number of notes and nodes, which the app auto creates those files whenever you use a tag or reference a page that doesn't exist. If you remove the tag or the page reference the page still exists in your database and becomes a zombie file in your graph. Also, if you move to something else, good luck, because Logseq doesn't use standard MDL. Also, you're kind of screwing yourself over with embeds, especially if you move to another PKM. Ultimately, I just moved over to Obsidian and I like that it works for me and I don't work for it. Logseq you're forced to organize around how the app is built. Obsidian, you can turn a folder into a database, you can use that to create other things like projects, CRMs, and if you want to work like you're in Logseq that's good too. It can be whatever you need it to be.
@toolsontech5 ай бұрын
Glad Obsidian is working for you, nothing wrong with that. I'm well aware and warned people that once you start usings embeds you are kind of stuck with Logseq because it's incompatible with other tools but I don't think it's worse then the internal linking of Obsidian or any of cloud solutions out there that will give you hard to parse backups as well. I'm mostly happy we get the choice
