Yep... Ditch the brolly, turn the blower 180 degrees, and it might work under perfect conditions. There are videos showing similar things, but the blowers have more guts than that one. Of course you could be charitable and say the blast from the blower is curving around the inside of the umbrella and blowing backwards, like the clamshell on a jetboat when it reverses... Nahhh, I don't think so! 😜
@GraveUypo5 ай бұрын
to be fair, you actually can generate propulsion by blowing your own sails due to vortex and redirection shenanigans. it's just only a fraction of the energy you put into it as the net force is tiny, but it does happen.

The umbrella edges redirect the airflow. In efficient, but not a cartoon. IF that's "impossible", you should let the designers of thrust reversers know they're doing impossible magic. OTOH, it would go very, very slow if not for the electric skateboard the bucket sits on. ;)

Children often improvise as they sometimes have a lot of time on their hands and tend to be imaginative and not stuck in their ways. Admittedly that's not a good thing if a child decides to help you out by washing your cell phone in the washing machine but it might be interesting to see a video with children improvising for good or bad. I remember once seeing three boys taking turns sitting on a skateboard and going down a hill on the road while using downhill ski poles to steer and a hockey helmet for protection. Basically they were using items from three different sports to create their own newly invented sport. And for those of you who are worried about the safety aspect the slope wasn't that steep and two noys were always watching out for cars even though it was a pretty quiet side street.
