The intro to this was cute. ❤❤ What a cool piece. I love that there's an element of the painting brought to life with an actual step. Now that I think of it, I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often! I remember hearing about this prolific family and being impressed by them, so it shouldn't surprise me that one of them had such a unique approach to this piece as well. 🤯 OMG. I thought it was only the first step! The illusion really got me! lol. How fun. I would lose my mind in Peale's museum. They must've been fascinating people. The couple walking together at the end was a sweet and unexpected touch. There's just so much to enjoy about this one, it brightened my day.

I worked at the PMA. There's a story that Washinton was visiting the Peale museum and he tipped his hat to the painting, as he walked by. Thinking it was actually Peale's children on a staircase.

After the 3rd step, the stairs don't seem to make any sense to me. They look as if they pitch downward.
