Would be most useful if in your reviews you could indicate whether each product requires use of its own app and whether you have to open an account with that company. Better when you can put stuff right into HomeKit without all that.

If youre in the US, Meross smoke detectors wont qualify for the return policy. different fire safety standards for different countries. I ordered 3 and was going to use a usbc to power the hub and get rid of the UK power adapter. they dont offer US power adapter. My order was running late so i emailed the company and they told me about not qualifying for the return policy so instead of taking a chance, i cancelled my order. looking for an alternative within the same price range. also I dont think Bosch ships to US either.

Honestly the best one is still the Nest Protect bridged to HomeKit via a Starling Home Hub.
