Also....as a former pilot and aviation geek...his work as Sully...and the Sully story of a terrible bird strike incident handled perfectly is another reason I adore and respect this guy from here to Topeka.

Tom hanks career is just insane, he by far is the best actor of our generation and one of the top 3 all time. I'm 45 so, I was a Lil kid watching him on bossom buddies and then the mainly comedic movies like Slash, Money pit (underrated comedy. And being a contractor now, it makes me laugh just as hard.) Big.. then throws in a classic Romcom in Sleepless in Seattle, to a serious drama like Philadelphia to the iconic Forest Gump, then he goes onto to star in Apollo 13 next. Then the ultimate D-day invasion re-creation in Saving Private Ryan. Throws in You got Mail & Castaway.. Directing Band of Brothers, becomes Woody on Toy Story. Then becomes the star of Dan Browns series starting with Di Vinci code. .there's many I haven't listed like "catch me of you can, great movie but Leo gets the headlines cause he plated the cool role lol. His career is just unbelievable. Great stuff. 👏

As one of your listeners who loves literature, that Philip Kerr shout out near the start of the interview made my f*cking day. I recently read the first novel in Kerr's Bernie Gunther series, March Violets, and got straight up hooked. A hot minute later, I was finishing the third in the series. Will and Tom really 'nail' why those novels are so damn good, and reminded me to get off my keister and order up the next three installments to the Guntherverse. Historical fiction meets detective noir, with a good measure of dead Nazis, there's just so much to love! T.Hank you guys.

The problem with really entertaining and compelling war movies, is that at the end of the day generates what Will said, a level of fascination that is way off of what really is. People in wars tend to do awuful traumatic things, not extraordinary ones. Tom said we try to make it anti war, but it actually generates the contrair. I think I've watched Private 10 times and it will grab me every time I get a glimpse. On the other hand when I watched an even for moments surrealistic movie like "Come and See", geez that movie it's way more real of what war is about than any "real looking" traditional war movie we tend to enjoy. Come and See is one of the few really anti war and real showings of the tragedy of it.

Does anybody think it’s about damn time the trio brought on the one and only Robert Zemeckis? The man is directing Tom for the 5th time and Robin Wright for the 4th time in the upcoming time travel drama “Here”. He’s accomplished a ton for the past 4 decades such as BTTF, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Roger Rabbit, Polar Express, FLIGHT, Contact. He deserves to sit down with this fine trio

To Will’s question about Marvel - does Pixar’s Woody not count?! That character to me is an equivalent franchise to Marvel. Maybe not in numbers, but it definitely is a character that is synonymous with Tom Hanks.

Doesn't count because when it started, nobody knew it was gonna be successful much less a franchise.

Splash (on VHS) & Bachelor Party (edited for television) were my favorite movies, as a 5 year old boy. I genuinely thought a movie had to have Tom Hanks in it, for it to be funny... until I saw Ghostbusters.

Tom is often correct but I would like to say that as a viewer I do care where I see an item. Certain topics or types of entertainment require, in my opinion, the right conditions to be completely enjoyed. I never would have decided to watch Saving Private Ryan online even on my current large TV. I would only want to see it on a movie screen with a crowd of strangers.

'undeniably evil'-doing evil i agree-but that many people doing it means things probably took hundreds of years and all surrounding situations to get there. probably a few hitler-likes out there right now runnin' the shit off some orphanage. t hanks did that captain phillips movie and i guess in real life the crew actually sued this captain for reckless endangerment. but i judge people too easily also so whatever.
