Reason for this was the arrival of Chinese brands in the smartphone segment. It was start back in a 2015 but gained actual momentum after the jios entry. They gave feature rich smartphones at lowered price, which none other brands were given at that time. The downside was they killed the competition by agressive pricing, copying designs to save RnD expenditure and time and quality wasn't any good. Result was a good hardware rich phone but equally pathetic in user experience becoz of the ads, bloatware and data stealing.
