Dope advice! 1 major tip to add is to stand still. as much as you can! So many artist move too much, head bopping and ect! This causes the words to fade away and causes the artist to either be too close to the mic or too far away! This causes words to either fade away or be to loud or too low with no balance! A good artist has mic control and understands mic placement is huge! Great video bruh! Keep them coming and have a great weekend!

@Xavier Jones i had on these industry puppets as hard as i love the undergorund. he stood for everything thats wrong with rap, the opposite of a rolemodel and look what happend to the community. nowadays we have mumblerap and blm. 50killed hiphop by talking bout the numbers (budden who killed hiphop) and i am less picky bc he´s black. i am easy on them. with withe rappers i m way more critical. but offbeat is offbeat, listen to dax on changes and count the 16s and then the original, not even allways on the 4s.joel oritz-got my mind made up- the cadence of pacs flow, but clean and onpoint. and thats only rap. dude didnt work in a honest job. he was a criminal and proud about.not, he had no choice and had to do stuff. he was proud about being a lowlife. now compare to a person like chris ares, he isnt rapping in english, but he is a patriotic activist, building youth centers, gets jumped by journalists and antifa but does not care. and they ban his music every where, he was number one on spotify and i tunes but they deleted his album. not bc he had violent or criminal lyrics, no, bc he is upright, against drugs and dealing, he is teaches kids to get a job, work for their goals, avoid drugs and respect women. they frame him as nazi bc he is says stuff against merkel while we have muslim dudes only rapping about drugs and being criminal, nobdy bans their music. a straight dude, telling the youth to keep clean and help others gets, jumped and banned everywhere whyle muslims tell the kids to sell drugs and thats pushed. or take makks damage as example a rapper fighting the antifa. those are not only way better rappers, bc its just rap. those are real MEN, doing honest work providing for their women. so sorry i cant respect an arrogant thug that needed to cut nearly ever word. shit vanilla ice was realler.

Hey Rob, I have just found your channel and the several video's I have seen so far are amazing !! I am sure over the years you have inspired many artists to produce so much great content. This year is a special year for me and at the end of July 2019 I want to create a rap. I cannot sing and I have never rapped before but seeing your content has made me realise that I am choosing to rap. I have only just started watching your videos (I will watch them all). In early January I purchased a looping station and have been messing around with it. When recording my voice I sound monotone (may not be able to change) I am going to take on-board what you say and will document my journey on here. Wish me luck, thanks man.

Hey i think i can help with that, i do a aux reverb send .. minimal gain on the send, and on the track itself put in an eq with high pass some high shelf and a little compressor based on your mic testing and experience .. thats it i guess and a -.01 ceiled limiter on the master so you dont clip and give it a little push by setting a lower threshold so you hear yourself better.. everything is changeable later on
@Elosbyuri6 жыл бұрын
An aux* just incase anyone notices 😅😂
@zachariehurd5966 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful with that because the presets get recorded on the vocals. Thus any compression or eq you do you can't undo later on.
@Elosbyuri6 жыл бұрын
you can undo it later.. you dont put the plugin on the sound interface you put them in the DAW as an insert so nothing's determined dw ..

Great tips, but with having the presets already on the track, it gives off the impression that you don’t need to work as hard to get it to sound good. If you can record a song ‘flat’, and be ok with it, then add the effects and hear it grow, you’ll probably get a better sound because you’ve worked harder in the take to get it to sound good. Not quite pro advice for everyone but it helped for me. I used to record with auto tune on, now I keep it off. It made me a lazy vocalist and I wasn’t hitting the notes, but I thought I was because auto tune was correcting them for me whilst I was monitoring. One day I recorded my session with my phone also recording me for a video I was making, whilst monitoring with auto tune and all the plugins. Sounded dope in my headphones, but when I played the video back I was crazily out of key. Like everything was completely off, wasn’t hitting the notes on time, some notes that I know I can hit I wasn’t hitting, because auto tune was lying to my ears. So I record without monitoring auto tune, hit all the notes, make it sound good, then I put the auto tune on the track. With that, my auto tune plugin doesn’t need to work as hard. Less robotic sounding and way more natural.
@theR0ck3tsumm3r5 жыл бұрын
Gx0d Bxy you’re better off tracking with the auto tune on the track. Everyone you hear that used auto tune records with it. Just make sure that you’re not committing to the effect on the actual track itself. The EQ will help you hear your vocals without the extra weight of the low end below 80hz-160hz. Adding a Hi Shelf of 3db-6db at or above 8khz will help add that “sheen” to your vocals. Lastly, the compressor will help even out the sound of your vocals when recording. This is something that YOU CAN record and commit to audio with. Make sure your ratio is between 2:1 - 4:1 and your attack and release is set at a medium speed with about 1db - 3db MAX I’d gain reduction. Most people that you know DO record with effects on. I know your point is that you want to take the “high road”, but if everyone is already doing the opposite, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. Remember, there are no rules to music! That even means that what you may consider as “cheating” is also acceptable. Do whatever you must in order to create the best product that you can. :)

Feel the standing is slightly more necessary. Body movement and gestures help with delivery the same way making faces while singing also helps. Voice actors also stand and do gestures to get into the character and the mood, but to each their own I suppose. Also the lungs can expand more needing less breath control.
