Allen Bach demonstrates how to use the Smarty in training for roping, heeling in particular. Showing some of his techniques on how the pros do it, Allen rides his horse behind the Smarty dummy sled, lasso in hand, to practice his roping skills, working on fine tuning his abilities and obtaining the muscle memory through repetition in his form.

So is it required to balance on the face of the horse to ride the corner right? I was taught ride on a loose rein but non of them were world champions so I'm wondering if I need to adjust?

David Withers some top guys ride with loose rein but some of us like our horse in our left hand. I like to keep deprecation and yes that's why esp at NFR I was able to rope good
