One of the best, if not the best tennis videogame of all times...career mode, music, physics, overall gameplay. The only BIG mistake of this game is not including key players in its roster, like Federer, Nadal, Nalbandian, Moya, Monfils, Coria, nor the classics Agassi and Sampras...

Can't agree. The game was released in 2004 (i guess), monfils and nadal weren't accomplished; Safin, Hewitt & Roddick were as good as Federer was back then (but Federer already should have been there, I agree); Sampras, Courier and Agassi already were in the first game, that was released just 2 years earlier...

What I did not like in the game eas that Namco had the license to use Head, Prince, Wilson, Babolat, Yonex, Adidas, Lacoste and some other brands, but you couldn't use them on your pro... that's the only thing I have to say that I don't like in this game, everything else is great; almost as good as the nowadays games (if not better).

I am replaying this gem now with the whole coronavirus thing and shit it is awesome, only problem is that is too easy, I won roland Garros on the first year of the career mode ranked 210 lol

Wow, that's an achievement. I've also played this game for hours and it was not until the second season that I won my first grand slam. But after then, it really became really easy as you said.

Have you tried to put it on hard mode? If you do it, playing against some licensed players (Roddick, Safin & Hewitt, specially) will never be easy...

This game (Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2) and Top Spin 3 are my two absolute favorite tennis games. The service animations and gameplay are excellent in this game, and as a bonus, you can also play on green clay in the Career mode. The gameplay and character-maker in Top Spin 3 are amazing. Smash Court Tennis (3) was an enormous disappointment: they basically ignored THIS game completely, instead of building on its strong foundation. AND I think I'm the only person alive who loathes Top Spin 4; 3 was so much better.

@@BubbafromSapperton People complained that the learning curve for the Top Spin 3 controls was too steep, so they simplified them for TS4. The TS3 controls for me, however, mirrored the bounce-hit nature of real tennis so closely that I couldn't understand how to work the new ones properly. AND I had no incentive to learn because the swing animations and graphics in TS4 were somehow worse than TS3, and the character creator was SHAMEFUL. Top Spin 3 needed some refinement: more accurate swing animations, a more involved career mode, better female player options, and the ability to control your replays--like you can in NBA2K. You might have better luck with Top Spin 4, though, because you won't have been ruined by an experience with Top Spin 3. We haven't had a good console game in such a long time. I thought we were gonna get something good with Kvitova, Li Na, Azarenka, or Tsonga but they don't seem interested in making them anymore.

@@CDawg Bandai Namco trademarked Smash Tennis in Europe this year. Sony Japan trademarked Slam on Sep 4. Going into next gen it looks like we at least get Smash Court Tennis from Bamco and a new tennis game from Clap Hanz. I don't think Mario Tennis Aces's success has anything to do with Bamco and Sony look into the opportunity to make a new tennis game. Full-fledged tennis games have been around since SNES so they should bring back the genre from the dead. I doubt Sega and 2K Sports jump back any time soon until they see Bamco and Sony succeed.
