Great video. I use Idahoan instant mash every time now and it comes in herby, cheesy or just normal. I used to use frozen and raved about it and now Idahoan has taken that place. I also use Morrisons own brand of cheese & onion packet mash which is also great and cheap. I always seem to throw potatos out, so this is a really good option
@lozzii1917 Жыл бұрын
I had to stop buying Idahoan mash which also comes in garlic, bacon, cheese and another flavour due to Sulphates in it Doctors say if you have Migraines, Stomach and Bowel problems to avoid all Sulphates as its brutally harsh nasty chemical gives me very very violent Migraines and possible sensitive to it as had rash and needed extra dose of Antihistamines and my Inhalers I was fine after I mentioned this in another previous chats Asda has totally wrecked its smart price range not only is it much more expensive but most ingredients is enough to give you frightful nightmares with not just Sulphates and alcohol in some but other unidentifiable and unable to pronounce nasty additives, preservatives and E numbers wish they just leave things alone. Asda smart price was only shop I loved there noodles at 14p now 25p chicken or curry slightly bland but easiely pimped up also jaffa cakes 24p now 39p I think sainsburys is only place I buy there chicken paste that is only chicken anywhere else its mixture of unknown fish, chicken and beef etc usually ground up bones hence mechanically separated same thing in pet food all others the savoury rice at between 25p to 35p is quiet nice back to powdered mash I got frozen pellets £1.55 for big bag as fresh mash whether its normal, root vegetable, sweet potato, bubble squeek etc like all things in supermarkets from deli, bakery, butcher, fish aisles they repeatedly defrost, freeze, defrost and so on that's why wen you take it home and its rotten next day it also can't be frozen that's for this reasons the supermarkets have had it in out the freezer that many times so be very wary of this. As for powdered mash best to go for next one up as you just don't no what's in the very basic brand can't remember which one it was it had 70 percent potatoes leaving you questioning what's other 30 percent. Best way to make any powdered item is pour it in to what ever vessel your using using tiny bit slightly warm milk mix into fine paste this way there shouldn't end up being any lumpy bumpy stuff wen filly mixed through add rest of the milk in bowl or pot if its cuppa soup add warm water only unless you like it with milk Tesco roast chicken soup is well nice use to be 5 packets it's now only 4 still worth it at 90p for 4 or 27p for other cuppa soups it's always best to use to little than to much and wrecking it in process you can always add more later on its trial and error but if you got scatter brain like me maybe keep plain notebook or how you make things that way later down line wen you make it again and it's not written down or will just end up in floods of tears out frustrating annoyance

When I was a kid I distinctly remember it having a really horrible chemical taste that I couldn't stand. It tasted nothing like mashed potato to me and made me feel sick. I had it again, randomly, a year or so ago and it tasted absolutely fine and not all that far away from normal mashed potato once I added butter and salt and pepper. I'm not sure if they've changed the ingredients or if you just have a really sensitive palate when you're young. Confused me a bit though. I wouldn't have an issue eating it now.

I hated sprouts, cabbage, carrots (unless fresh from the garden eaten raw), potatoes, as I have grown I love all of them, I don't know why but these same foods did seem to taste different as a child, cooking method?
@PotatoPirate1232 жыл бұрын
@@Taz6688 I don’t think it’s cooking, I think your tastebuds change or different receptors mature at different stages. Some things remain largely the same and other things switch entirely. I also think that when you’re young whatever receptors have developed on your tongue are much more powerful (a bit like hearing range), so things like Smash, for me, had a very obviously ‘not right’ taste to them, which I can now now longer distinguish. Some people refuse to ever try things they didn’t like as a kid and, in my opinion, they are likely to be missing out. This is why even now I will always try things I *think* I’m not that keen on every few years.

Hi Keith. I'm fairly new to your channel n love everything I've seen you make. You're a good cook. I love a bit of Smash when I'm feeling lazy. Tesco n Sainsbury also do bags of frozen mash which are also really good. Four minutes in the microwave for a huge bowl of mash. Spot on. Yorkies have to be homemade though. The frozen ones are bloody tasteless in my opinion.. Hope you and your clan are all good bud. Gaz 😊
