Charlie Ryan In NA a lot of players sacrifice all their days and their time to practice smash instead of other adult things and it only becomes worth it if they can make money from tournaments. They also sign to teams and stream on twitch to make money.

Is it just me or do commentators just sound dumb when they say bad DI. if I'm not mistaken optimal DI in ultimate is holding towards stage which is so easy that most likely they are going to do that every time
@MrSelkies5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you get hit by something you weren't expecting, or just straight up get a missed input, and accidentally DI yourself further away from the stage and get killed when you could've lived with better, or even no, DI. DI isn't just holding a direction, it's based on what direction you're holding when the hit actually happens, so holding it afterwards does nothing. It's all about knowing you're going to get hit and holding the direction before the hit happens. So if something unexpected hits you for whatever reason, you might not be holding the right direction for good DI. My point is the window to DI is tight enough where "bad DI" is a legitimate criticism and it's not as simple as just hold the direction. It also should be said that good DI isn't always holding towards stage - sometimes it's better to make your angle different like when you're sent straight up it's better to hold left or right.
@thomasr.66695 жыл бұрын
@@MrSelkies Exactly. Sometimes I end up with bad DI when I'm trying to roll away and end up losing a stock much earlier than I should've. Since you don't have intangibility at the very beginning and the very end of the roll depending on the character, I got caught on the first few frames when I dropped shield to do the roll animation and wasn't expecting that. In terms of differing optimal DI, take Jigglypuff for example. She can carry you to the blastzone at a certain percent range with Forward Air strings before you can act out of hitstun, especially if you try to DI in since you don't want to DI towards the blastzone and potentially lose a stock. But you end up sealing your fate if you do that and it's better in the end to DI out of another Fair and deal with her trying to edgeguard your recovery. You still have a chance at least in that situation depending on your character's recovery.
@lidofzejar5 жыл бұрын
Good DI is dependant. For straight ups and downs you want to hold the opposite direction. For lefts and right, you want to lean toward the opposite upper corner of the screen, or just up in general to divert your ballooning speed. Sending it up puts more space between you and the blast zone. Down let's you come lower for a tech chase, but can lead to earlier kills due to all your speed being fully utilized to reach the blast zone. IIRC if you just di toward the stage having been knocked to the right of it you may as well have no DI.
