Billy's voice is hard for a lot of people to get past; he does sound like someone strangling a very talented cat. I struggle with Geddy Lee for similar reasons, but I fully recognize the brilliance and artistic contributions of both.

My favorite band for last 25 years. As a dude who likes dissecting lyrics I think you'd get a lot out of getting deeper into the Pumpkins. Billy Corgan has been a neverending source of poetic and thought provoking lyrics. My love for this band started with this song when I was 12. If it were to do the same thing for you so many years later that would be a beautiful thing.

The Jesus was the only son I think was his out cry of selling his soul and saying he can not be saved. The one thing with Rock/Metal that needs to be said is that they talk about subjects that not a lot of other genres do. Rap I guess hits on it a little but mostly they say the same things over and over. Check out Slayer - Angel Of Death if you want your heart rate up. May be a little to heavy for you but I still think you will be able to find some appreciation in it. Also Dire Straits - Telegraph Road for a journey for your spirit. Its long but its phenomenal.

Great reaction. I haven't jammed with the Smashing Pumpkins in a while. It was kinda fun. I got some fun jams to jack you up. Ever hear of Southern Rock? Southern Rock is a subgenre of Rock. Greg Almond (married Cher) is the Father of Southern Rock. Southern Rock includes bands like ZZ Top, Lynyrd Synyrd, Blackfoot, 38 Special, Marshall Tucker, Almond Brothers and more. CCR is even considered a Southern Rock thing. Here is a great Southern Rock band called Molly Hatchet and one of my favorites: Flirtin' with Disaster kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXzCXndrd5x3f8k And this is Molly Hatchet and Dreams Ill Never See (great for cruisin' down the road) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaPXg6iZhaqVqas And there are a lot of 'smaller' bands that put some kick ass music out. You have made some excellent selections to sample from the "Rock" genre. I agree with most of your reactions and, like you, I am drawn to artists that effect my emotions. I have stomped around this planet for over 55 years and listened to everything from old jazz and R&B, rock, blues, soul, you name it. Lately I ran across a teen-aged girl on KZbin that blew my mind. Billie Eilish is her name and emotional lyrics are her forte. It helps that her voice is angelic and her brother is a genius of production. Try her song "Ocean Eyes" or "when the party's over" if you want a treat. But, beware my brother, once you hear that voice, nothing else will be quite the same. Good fortune!
