Excellent stuff, I remember waiting on vieuphoria to be released(14 years ago!!) and loving it, think i wore the tape out! Will always be my favourite band, i've managed to see them 4 times live which isn't bad considering i live in Northern Ireland

I like how the opening, soft whimper of "Love" turns in to a visceral howl - "LOOOOOOVVVE!!!!"

@MancKev not true, they had this on the lost tapes too. i forget which songs they had from this concert but i distinctively remember watching "I Am One" from this concert in the lost tapes. maybe you never came across it, i didn't come across this performance on Vieuphoria until watching in many many times and owning it for maybe a year. i can guarantee that the concert was on it. i don't think Rocket was on it though.

he sounds cool enough.. what exactly is singing well in alternative rock? Kurt Cobain, Frank Black,.. none of them really had conventional mainstream singing voices if that's what you're after, but they rocked what they had.

@Hecknerfunk7 жыл бұрын
Because of the 'Nirvana Movement' at that time , maybe Corgan Felt obliged to scream his lung out ...just to thrill the audience ? Or make it more rock ? Or just because it was difficult to deal with the Sound of the voice on stage ? The guitars and drum here are sublime. But the voice is far from good
@sheldonbenton52787 жыл бұрын
Hecknerfunk no that’s how he sings. He just has a lot of emotion. Billy was not the mainstream type, no way he would be screaming to be like nirvana or any other band at that time
@pittenjd6 жыл бұрын
No way. He's an excellent singer. Singing isn't always about singing pretty or perfectly. It's often about the emotions you convey. He sings with all of his heart and soul. And truly, if you listen to the actual melodies in many Smashing Pumpkins vocal lines (particularly in the studio), the melodies are usually very beautiful and musically ingenious. Again, singing isn't about being perfect. He was a genius songwriter and very good at expressing himself through his words and music, and was a master at channeling passion and emotion through his art. When people criticize his singing as being "bad" I always feel it's a little short-sighted, although every one is of course entitled to their opinion. But it's their loss. The Smashing Pumpkins for me are one of the most emotionally intense and riveting bands, and my appreciation for them only deepens as I get older and listen to them more and more.
