About the discussion at 3:15 around leading on that flop, how do you make sure to balance that out? You don't want to be firing in that spot only when you've got a monster and want action, correct?
@johnmalott54993 жыл бұрын
Also fire with runner runner bluff hands as well. Anything with better equity % than runner runner should check instead. But if you have a nutted hand it's great to lead there. Again, the balance can be found by leading on flops where you only have runner runner equity

James I think you are probably a really good higher stakes or online player but you are gonna have to adjust to beat 1/2 live. You just can't try and value bet weak top pair especially on the river once the draws are gone. Also you can't pay off sets and two pair hands against these players. Thats what these players live for. Yes they are calling stations pre flop and with draws but when they take over and bet river it is never a bluff enough to justify a call. Just my experience with 1/2. Even against 2/5 what you say would work better. I'm glad you are doing the vlog and look forward to seeing you adapt to this game

Yep the value is weighted on the flop and turn. If you execute just right alot of them will feel obligated to call the river because they have over a hundred dollars in the pot.

Thank you! A lot of my bluffs have been successful early on earlier streets so far, which don't make for particularly interesting hands (for instance, the Q9 hand from episode #2). There are bluffing opportunities here, but much less frequent in MW pots.

@@ThePokerBank Personal thoughts on the last hand (KTo). At $1/$2 I find the majority of the player pool isn't 3 betting enough overall and especially from the SB. So while he should have some AQs & AJs that should c-bet flop, jam the A turn for pot, it just feels like you are going to run into a better 2 pair or better more than 2/3 of the time. But it might have been one of those spots where you wishes he had more money so you could fold.

I imagine that someone who makes poker training content would be a 2/5 and up player anytime they enter the card room so it’s interesting to see an established poker player at a 1/2 game. Are you just at the 1/2 tables for vlog content or you do you play 1/2 regularly? Also curious about what you personally could make in bb/hour over a decent sample size at a 200 max game. I hear people tell me they make $30 plus an hour in 200 and 300 max 1/2 games and I that just seems extremely unrealistic to me. Also want to add that the graphics and editing are top notch man. Awesome content. Looking forward to more.

Correct, I typically play $2/$5 and some $5/$10. I'm playing $1/$2 for VLOG content. I think my longterm winrate would be around 10bb/hr (including promotions/bonuses). And thank you for your compliment! The edits/graphics take a VERY long time, so I really appreciate you noticing =)

Hey, SplitSuit! Love the content. I would really love to discuss the turn bet in the first hand of the video! Normally, I completely agree with most of your decisions, but I am not liking this one and would appreciate further analysis if possible! I understand building the pot is the correct play more often than not, but with a nutted hand, aren't we hoping villain imrpoves on the river? If he hits or misses he likely bets anyway thinking you've given up on the turn so why not let him donk into you with position on the river? If he has a middle pair or a busted draw, are you really getting 3 streets of value anyway? Thanks for your time! Hopefully, we can get into this one! Run good. 👍

Really enjoy your blogs 🙂. Not trying to hate on you, just some honest comments: your preflop raise sizes seem to be all over the place from 6 to 20? You seem to get into too many large size pots with 1 pair hands. Didn't like your call of the 3bet preflop w/KTo, that was a head scratcher. Keep the blogs coming, I do follow all your stuff and publications 👍.

13:50 Why would you want to fold out counterfeited pairs like 88s and 77s? I fail to see the logic behind that. Obviously you'd be able to fold out straight draws such as KJ/KQ or possibly higher flush draws, but you have a lot of removal to those holdings.
@ThePokerBank3 жыл бұрын

88 hand Correct me if I am wrong ; On A 8 9 A board Hero : has to check this hand So that if a villain has hand with A he would raise And if he has straight draw he would be happy to take a free card and if he hits on the river We will get paid off
@ericzhong58633 жыл бұрын
Disagree. With 88 you do not block any of your opponent's A. So if you just bet not too large, (which is what you should do when you completely miss anyway, since you are more likely to have a strong Ax), opponent's A and flush draws should call anyway, and you can still extract value on the river with a much bigger pot. A fish with an A is not going to fold on the river if you bluff enough. We don't even need to discuss if he improves to a straight/flush. If he misses on the river, he will not pay you anyway. I do think the vlogger bets a bit too large with a effective nuts, though.

Just to elaborate on the 77 hand, it's so important that you take the betting lead away from weak players. You cannot rely on them to bet at a correct frequency. It's deeply unbalanced but players in 1/2 tend to be quite bad so they will seldom fully understand why you are leading here

I'm in Jacksonville, where Best Bet is the 'house'. Very splashy very often, with some good regs at the $2/$2 game I play. I see you're struggling with bet sizing, as do I. I feel like live it's very hard to get that right because there isn't a '3/4 Pot' button, but also because I get the sense that betting too big (like even half pot sometimes) is a turnoff to the table. When you raise to $8 or $10 pre and get 6 callers (common here), you have a $60 pot but firing $40 on the flop FEELS like an overbet. I've started (since joining RCP) to get used to this at the table, but I suspect you're suffering from the same. You want to induce the action you want to induce without making the other players feel like you're bullying. Online, you just click and go. Live is, well, different. Thoughts on that notion? Do you feel like the 'flow' of the table influences your bet sizing, making you bet 'wrong' because in the moment it 'feels' right?
@ThePokerBank3 жыл бұрын
I think there is certainly some of that going on, especially since there are clear sizing thresholds in live games that can be on the cusp of a bet that is sized too small/too large. I just don't want to write off some clear blunders with a "you had to be there" thought process =)
@PriusMike883 жыл бұрын
“If you’re limping from the CO you’re expecting to get involved in a multi-way pot”. Why one would open limp fold from the CO is something I find myself wondering and after watching this I’ve realized .. at 1/2, most are making actions with no expectation what so ever.

I love your stuff, content, and approach. But I think you may have a leak: betting way too small. Albeit, I can’t imagine playing 1/2 $200 cap - that is unbelievably shallow - so 3x is awkward vs. 1/2 $300 cap - but I have to imagine by now you can weigh the likelihood of calls from certain players relative to your bet. I hope this session highlighted this leak, assuming your hand reviews are honest. (I understand that as a vlogger on your poker hands, you have to balance being informative/insightful without giving away your strategy now that all of your Villains can see into your playbook, so to speak. So I don’t mean that to cast doubt on your honesty/ or suggest you’re saving face, etc but that perhaps your repetitive behavior of betting small is a part of your meta given the dynamics. Okay, this parenthetical has gone way tooo long.) Love your stuff. Looking forward to it all.
