Most bodacious Tim… 💥 I’m looking at batteries to isolate my shack as much as possible and considering the Ultra Max ( where from, can you buy the carrier and connectors with it ? Any advice appreciated 🤔 ) Just starting up again and proving my station before investing in a bigger base station radio. Using an older icom 706 at the minute stored from 1996 when I had to pack up. I’ve had a few ‘hunter’ contest contacts… never shouted CQ YET 😳 I enjoy your presentations and have subbed 😊 Best wishes to all.73. 💙 G0uvl

Great stuff Tim. I have been swamped by noise for the last couple of weeks which along with the cold has kept me out of the shack. To top it all storm Bert has brought down my EFHW so my best antenna is down. It's going to be a long winter 😞. You got a few more points than me Tim. I only did an hour in CQWW CW yesterday, and racked up just under 1,000 points. 5 W into Ampro 20 on a magmountn while parked up at Jack and Jill Windmills, Clayton. DX highlights were Alaska, Australia, Bonaire Island, Canada, Japan and quite a few US and Europe. Wish I could have stuck at it for longer as condx were decent. Wanted to set up on beach but yesterday's weather put me off a bit 😂 73 M3KXZ

Well done Tim! I didn’t do CQWW CW from the mobile this year but have done some dabbling on it in past years. Did a few hours Saturday and Sunday evenings here on 10, 15. and 20 from the home station with my 7300 and a simple end fed inverted L on 40, 20, and 15 ( half wave 40, full wave 20, 3/2 wave 15) and a 7/2 wave coax fed doublet on 10 (my 75 meter dipole with series 10 meter RG-59 75 ohm series matching section at the feedpoint). Last night 10 meters was spectacular around 2200UTC wide open to the entire Pacific rim, South America and the Caribbean all at once. Bodes well for the upcoming ARRL 10 meter contest. You should give it a try, on a good shoreside location you may get out very well. For the last couple of years I have been running a nominal 13 foot 1960s vintage center loaded 2MHz marine band whip on my Tacoma 4x4 on 160, resonated on 160 with a series L base loading coil and 1500 pf shunt capacity across the feed point. Have made it out to Hawaii and across the pond to Europe and Madeira during 160 CW contests as well as SA and the Caribbean. And no external radials, just the truck body as the counterpoise. Being parked about 5 feet from 100 miles of Long Island Sound to my west certainly helps! Chris AJ1G Stonington CT

My concerns on working that amount of time are not so much the battery, it's going for a pee and having some food...if I'm up on the mountain over Maerdy, I usually pack up and go home for a pee!

Hello Tim . I did watch most of your videos for a while already . I can say you were one of the reasons I enjoy doing mobile myself (and I can add living in London makes mobile Ham operating more like a good idea ... ) . I have a couple of questions: what do you say about Chameleon CHA25, the 25 feet antenna? . Secondly : I am actually trying to set up a QRO mobile RIg setup ( FT710, Acom 1010, 12v 300Ah baterry, 3000w inverter) . I was trying to find some options for a magmount 3/8 antenna to have 1kw PEP rating. Do you know any? ( The CHA25 is actually rated at 1Kw, but it is said to go only 6m-20m without a coil). The "Big Mad Dog" coil (not in production for the moment due to high demand - designed specifically for the CHA25) - I don't think can take more than 100w.... no coil I could find to take more than 100w. SO . Any solution for 700w 40m mobile using a magmount? I am using now the Ampro Whips (rated 250w)

I think running Qro into a mag mount won’t cut it. I would also be concerned running that power situated close to the antenna.
