One bit of commentary seemed to make it sound like the last matches were being played very late so maybe a bunch of people had gone home. Also pdc crowds are absolutely dreadful nowadays and only seem interested in eliciting reactions from players and cheering when they miss doubles

Might just be preference for getting to double 8 or 16. Of course if he went for treble 20 and missed getting down to a double finish from 72 can be done a few ways, but getting to double 16 would mean a double 20 to get there. The outerring worth 25 mean he can try treble 17 for double 8. Hits the 17 he can try bull.
