Well done Cable for capturing this. Good to see you rightly standing your ground. We hope you find a new venue asap!

So 70 people earning minimum wage have lost their jobs but this development will make way for more safer and efficient services for 100,000's of commuters working in the city. I think the majority win here!

I am from Australia and lived in London for a period of time. Cable has an international reputation and contributes to the overall tourist and youth culture of the city. The club is iconic and it is a terrible what Network rail is doing.
@liam211 жыл бұрын
I can see both sides of this really. Network rail need the tunnel as they're trying to redevelop one of the most congested rail hubs in London. Cable on the other hand shouldn't have to move if they were previously told they wouldnt have to (they keep saying this but I can't find any evidence of it?). It's been known for years that this development would be happening so they cannot feign lack of prior knowledge but comes down to what they were told for me

Brilliant club. was there from day 1 and loved it. so sad to c it go. but im sure there will b another venue.

About time Network Rails true colours were shown! I been trying to liaise with them for over a year on a clients arch in Tower Hamlets and they just TWATS towards to the tenants! They said he can move in on the condition he can have a snooker club only, but when he went to open it they said it breached planning as he didn't apply for planning permission. Now after several applications and a failed appeal the client can't do nothing with the arch! He's lost out on a year of rent and Network rail

Had some great nights at cable. Real shame to see this happen. I feel for all the staff and owners. I hope you can relocate somewhere where you don't get pricks ruining what has been a great hub for music, and looking forward to seeing the documentary.

sure you guys will be back but so sad to see this happen to easily my favourite club in london. it will never be the same again. network rail have destroyed a world-renowned piece of music culture without so much as a second thought. i also feel really bad for all the staff who are now without jobs - you were all great and helped make this venue the legend it became :'( my biggest regret is not going to the last dub all or nothing! RIP cable

the risk of renting comes eviction, overall more benefit from the upgrades, though not ideal it was seen from afar, hopefully they've been able too find a venue they own outright since,

They made soo much money of cable, but they invested millions in building relay right next to it and now they are both gone... it would be pretty hard to relocate

@craighow236011 жыл бұрын
No, but with Network Rail being their landlords, a warrant WOULD be issued if Cable were refusing to hand over the keys to their landlords upon eviction for ANY reason that the landlord may see fit. Cable were given notice to evict and by the looks of it told them to shove it (Good on them) hence warrant and show of force. The main issue here is they said the development WOULD NOT affect Cable, so they've poured money time and effort into building something only to have it taken away from them!

this has straight up pissed me off, never even been to cable but was hoping to go as soon as i hit 18...shame its now been unceremoniously smashed to bits without warning, thanks a lot network rail :D

can't really argue with Network Rail. they're the cold light of day here...*iconic global brand* *world famous dj's* *and underground music*. slightly cringey, it's just a commercial events space in some arches ultimately. the 'journalist/reporters' look like they've had one too many late nights lol
@RunBabyRun2nite11 жыл бұрын
What did Cable think, NR was always going to use Cable to pay rent and then when they needed the property take it back. MOS will be next when Boris gives the ok for the flats, one more shooting/stabbing and MOS gone. SE1 property is to valuable now to care about nightclubs.

whatever people say, this is very sad. nobody should be able to decide how hurt an individual should be by any situation, it's personal, you weren't a part of their experiences at the club. brilliant club shut down, jobs being lost and, worst of all, they were "reassured... that there wouldn't be any effect to them by [network rail] developments", so network rail broke their promise. This is entirely NR's fault because of that broken promise and it's the principle behind this that is annoying.
@duckpk1011 жыл бұрын
so wait who owned the space did network rail own it and were renting it out or somthing or did the owners of cable have ownership of that land i'm confused?

We need to start voting. Theres enough under 25/30 year olds in the UK that we can hand pick who we want to be in control. We need to stop trying to get some old man in a suit to understand and take his bosses job(a government one) for ourselves.

Young people, take this seriously. The people in control of the country are not interested in what you think because most of us who are under 30 dont bother voting. Theres enough of us that, if we all voted one way, could take make some seriously high level government power for ourselves, then we get to make the rules and they would have to dance. Why protest? Why not get organised and take their job for yourself? #MakeTrouble
