I think if you can understand this video then yes, you have good comprehension because me and my dad were just talking as naturally would! Why is it much easier to understand your dad's accent than yours? You've got RP, haven't u? What about your dad's one?

There might be a few reasons for this! I grew up in Birmingham so I have a few things in my accent that are influenced by the Birmingham dialect. My Dad’s parents are priests so his influences spoke in very clear, slow ways. I am younger so I use more slang and my diction is a little more sloppy!
