Grimmspeed if you're reading this, please for the love of god make it a bellmouth downpipe. Cobb's Downpipe is the only approved bellmouth on the market but it reduces to 2.5" at the flange..... That titanium exhaust is awesome. My SPT cat-back has had a crack where one of the pipes for the tip meets the muffler since winter and been looking for a replacement. I was hoping Cobb would come out with a titanium exhaust for the hatches after watching the STI build from Gears and Gasoline and thank goodness, now I can have a full Cobb exhaust since I have their down pipe already!

The EJ downpipes came with two cats, at least in the GD’s. Here in SLC, Utah, they are now requiring both to be there and emissions places to submit pictures of them when they submit your testing to the county. (Going after shops passing cars without). Just made this law/rule 2 months ago. Had to play the game of failing to the new rule, getting lei-way to swap to stock over the weekend, and bring it back to retest the following Monday. So even that “green downpipe” won’t pass everywhere, I failed with my Invidia catted.

The best handling mod I made to my Hatch STi was Whiteline rear sub-frame infill bushes (KDT902). They massively reduce that rear end float feeling making the rear so much more planted. The GT86/BRZ has a similar setup and also benefits from this mod too. Next best mod was the front wishbone rear bush (W53353). They wear badly and caused brake judder on mine. They make the steering feel a lot more precise when upgraded. But loving the content. It's nice to see someone work on a hatch for a change. It's a really unloved and unappreciated car in the Subaru world.

As a note, a rear sway bar doesn’t actually eliminate understeer on a Subaru. A front sway bar, max front camber, and a proper alignment does a better job of eliminating understeer on Subarus then just a rear bar. Rear bars alone actually reduce it overall grip on Subarus.

Invidias bellmouth CATTED downpipe does NOT throw a CEL. it's also epa compliant. I think the CEL is more of a car to car basis. Some will throw a code and some will not. For anyone curious I can send pics of my AP not showing and codes and my dash with no CEL. I'm running the catted bellmouth DP from invidia and the tomei expreme ti single exit catback.
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
When we're you tuned?
@Scoob_Heartwood2 жыл бұрын
The invidia DP is NOT CARB approved BUT to my knowledge that doesn't matter in the case of catalytic converters when talking about EPA regulations. It's sort of a Grey area...As long as the CAT can sufficiently do its job and doesn't throw any codes(and you aren't in CA) it shouldn't be affected by the cobb greenspeed update. Even CA residents can technically still use it with the AP, as long as a code isn't thrown, however they will likely still not be able to smog it and it would be off-road-use only. All cobb did was remove the ability to bypass CEL codes from throwing and did not remove the tuning functions. To my knowledge a GESI cat is just a finer and more dense honeycomb technology that allows the larger volume of exhaust from the 3" pipe to be more efficiently burned equally or greater than a stock exhaust+cat would achieve. This is all speculation of course and I don't have proven science to back these claims but my own personal investigating came to this conclusion. 🤙

INSANE amount of progress! Good shit man! Oh dude. Idk if KZbin bugged out but I didn't see a reply on whether I should be worried about the oil pump on my car. Also. Sorry but another question. Why is a stock location turbo setup better for daily driving then a rotated turbo setup? The current goal is a ~500whp reliable daily. I thought going rotated would be better for airflow+heat but haven't done research on it especially on it would affect daily driving! Here's my comment I am referring to: And as for the setup. 29.5K on the odometer. I got the car @28K and the Short Block was apparently just broken in. So not many miles on the new block... Hopefully. Unless they lied to me.
@Smeedia2 жыл бұрын
I wouldent stress the oil pump too much, if you ever have timing off of the car it would be a good time to check it. Stock location and slightly smaller alqays has had a good overall response. With a usable power band. Karma was all power up top and not crazy responsive down low. Even with a smaller hot side

Would running a trans mount in tandem with engine mounts (IAG Comp for both) without an upgraded pitch stop cause any damage to the motor or anything? Thanks! (Asking for a 21 STi) The reason I am considering skipping the pitch stop is because I am not comfortable running one without a pitch stop mount brace. Right not braces are just way too expensive.
