The real usefulness of learning this song is when you're at a guitar shop and find a tasty guitar, play this until the staff offer you a rebate to simply get rid of you.

This is an amazing tutorial, as always, Justin. It's so well explained and even showing the 'authentic' power chords! I know this video is 5 years old now but the song and lesson is timeless and I'm finally getting around to learning it. Such a great song and so much fun to play on the electric guitar. I looked at some other tutorials for the song (also excellent) but yours is my favourite. Thanks so much

Hi Justin, great video thanks! I am studying on your book (I am old fashion) and they are amazing with a clear structure and great to learn step by step having fun. One thing I noticed here for the strumming pattern, is that you have also 2 clicks (strums with stopped strings) after the 2nd (Bb) and 4th (Db) chords. So, in summary, for me, person that needs to see things written down to understand: D UD - 4clicks - DDU - 2clicks X 2

FINALLY someone who can teach it right, but you missed a few bits that I think I hear. Like in the intro, when he first transitions from F to Bb, there is only one up-down on the mute, and then when he kicks in the distortion, he does not mute at all when he transitions from F to Bb

Great Lesson!! I'm a blues fanatic but I have a 10yr old son who wants to start playing. He has a friend who played this song on the guitar we just game my son's on his birthday. So I have started showing him how to do this song with his tiny little hands. love the one string guitar solo. You did a great job explaining the importance of "Feel" in playing music. As John Lee Hooker Said "It ain't the notes it's how you hit em' "

I have learnt the way Justin is playing it here, and watched a bit of Nirvana footage and it seems to match basically by playing all the solo on one string, other people seem to play it in roughly the same spot on the fretboard across a few strings. Sounds the same but I'd rather learn the actual way Kurt played it, which appears to be the same as it is here.

Thanks Justin. I'm going to have fun with this one. Yes, it really is about the energy but kudos to Kurt Cobain for such interesting chord progressions. Also, for anyone who cares, Kurt used an Electro Harmonix Small Stone chorus pedal.

That would be Small "Clone" chorus. The Small "Stone" is their phaser. Not nitpicking just want to make sure no one gets confused.
