So much hate on this comments section. For once I have seen someone correctly play the kick drum the way Grohl plays it. Most people play a close version but not exact. The organisation of where the kick drum hits is a large make up of the song. Good on you. People are so uniform about, "don't flip the sticks", "don't play like this". Don't ever listen to people telling you how you should play... if Ringo, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker listened to things like that they wouldn't have been unique. Musicians are the most judgmental people on earth right behind religious people...

While at first, I was thinking "That's not the drum part for this song," I suddenly remembered that's the beauty of music. You can do whatever you feel. And for anyone bitching about how "this isn't the right part" or "stop flipping your sticks" I say keep doing whatever makes you great, because music is all about expression, and this world needs more encouragers and less critics.

@thegreatsiberianitch8 жыл бұрын
When you do a bunch of fills that don't fit a song, its not "expression", it's "over playing". If I gave you a good looking hamburger, then lifted up the bun and started laying sheets of fruit roll-up on top of the hamburger patty... You might wonder what the hell I'm doing. That's what "over playing" is like, on any instrument, with any kind of music, fruit roll-ups in a hamburger. Might I instead recommend a sweet and savory pineapple marinade!? No? Ah... But who am I to tell you how to enjoy your hamburger, right? You free spirit of expression, you!!! Mmmm... Ground beef and chewy strawberry bits! Just like Mother used to make!!

You do realize that almost everyone who comes to this video enjoys it for what it is, a jam on an awesome track. But then there are the guys like you who for some reason can't understand the fact that I didn't wake up & think "I'm going to make this song better"&you think you're in a position to tell me I overplayed like I don't know it. LOL OF COURSE it's overplayed, Grohl is an icon&played the song perfectly, but if you haven't noticed by the response, this is what my viewers requested&want.
@ComaAlpha9 ай бұрын
My only piece of criticism is I think you should've KISSed it (Keep It Simple, Stupid) during the guitar solo. Other than that I think it was FUCKING PHENOMENAL!!!!!! So many different fills that aren't in Dave's studio cut that I think are AWESOME additions to what I believe is a boring song for the most part. You did fucking great!!! Like I said, when covering live I would just tone it back during the solo. Especially if you're playing with someone who can play something way better than just the vocal line on guitar like Kurt did.

His style is cymbals and stick spinnies, mine is tom fills and more cowbell. The point of a cover is to make it sorta your own. Every drummer is unique, the ones that are really good and can play any song the way it was meant to be played will go nowhere, where as an average drummer who incorporates his own style and creation of music to another persons can go extremely far. That is the only way you can even begin to create your own music. I rarely practice other drummers songs for that reason alone, I don't want to become a robot drummer. I wanna express ME thru MY drumming.

Coop's videos are for fun and entertainment purposes. I've been a Nirvana fan for many moons, in fact Kurt was still alive when I became a fan. I was glad to come here and see this kid play Teen Spirit his own way, his own style. If I want to listen to the original drum track I'll just watch Dave Grohl play it. There are plenty of versions to choose from. People should stop with the hate, why waste your time with a negative pointless emotion. Lighten up, have fun, Nirvana inspired and still inspires kids to pick up an instrument and bang something out. At least he picks up drum sticks instead of a crack pipe. Thanks for sharing your talent with us Coop.

Since there seems to be ridiculously too much confusion here, a cover is where you make it your own. Doing the original so others can copy it is a TUTORIAL. A TUTORIAL. Making it your own is a COVER. Now say it with me. A COVER is making it your own. A TUTORIAL is playing it like the original so others know how to play it.

This comment will probably get lost in the millions of other comments you receive daily from your channel but I must say that this cover exemplifies creativity to the max. At first, I found myself listening to this thinking, wow... this kid is just blasting nirvana and missing all the subtle details of the drum to instrument ratio but then I remembered that music is about sub creation and the levels after the fact. Conall Walsh said it best it the top comment to this "we need more encouragers and less critics in music". That being said, nice job on this and Im digging the GSU swag in most of the videos Ive seen. I live in Georgia myself. Hope to see you pop in at Elliot street sometime to blare this creativity. Keep it up man.
