I am a total beginner, started playing guitar less than 3 months ago and I have struggled for 2 months with this song. I could not wrap my head around muting the unwanted strings in the main riff, but now I'm finally able to play the whole song (with solo). I want to thank you for your awesome tutorial!

@@akilalexmond1231 after two months or so the finger pain will be mostly gone. And for songs I would recommend Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, as this has very easy strumming and the chords arent too difficult either. Other than that you could also look into other Nirvana Songs such as Come as you are, Lounge act etc. And after about a month or two I learned the acoustic parts of fade to black by metallica, again the chords are surprisingly easy to play.

@@codee6661 I eventually managed to play that song with 3 finger power chords, but for beginners I would definitely recommend starting with 2 finger power chords.

I literally picked up guitar 3 days ago and I can already play 3 songs pretty decently. All thanks to you! You made everything so easy and beginner friendly. Don't lie 😂🤣 Fast-forward... A couple months later I can finally hold Barre Chords and transition somewhat decently eg Bm to A or Emaj to F#m... but still can't play 5th string major Barres 😂

Kurt cobain actually also barred his ring finger over the A, D, AND G string when playing a power chord off low E string and D, G, AND B string when playing a power chord off the A string. This was a big part of nirvanas sound. The main riff in Teen spirit is also started with an UPSTROKE. pretty weird. some corrections: the prechorus actually goes 5-6 5-5-6 5-6 5-5-6 until it gets to last few bars it goes just 5-5-6 5-5-6 5-5-6 the bridge/post chorus, kurt doesn’t actually hit an E powerchord, he just lifts his pointer briefly and hits the E string, don’t worry if you hit the others a bit, there is a lot of distortion and its so quick it doesn’t matter. and near the end of that riff where the tab says to go to 5th fret power chord then 4th, just aim for the 4th fret power chord and hit it twice. the sound of the 5th fret powerchord is likely a result of the slide from the 6th. in the solo, kurt doesn’t quite hit the bends full. a bit flat.

Now I don't have an electric guitar, but my acoustic sound perfectly fine. I can tell you this, I'm pretty fast in learning power chords. Only took me a moment to figure out and actually understand what power chords are for. Next thing I know, I did it perfectly! First, before you try to do something you've never tried before, try and process what you're actually doing and why. Thank you man, this guy's a legend! He taught me so many songs!

Sometimes Kurt played the riff starting with upstrokes and played Sus like chords & Major Barre chords for the 4 chords. Almost similarly like in the song 'Dumb', he also played the G string for one note in the solo live sometimes
