Very underrated musical masterpiece. The harp can not leave you indifferent…

The first tones of Vysehrad are historically the signal of the Czech Radio Prague. In May 1945 and in August 1968 we were impatiently listening to these still repeated tones, waiting for some fresh news about what would happen to our country.

I love the entire Ma Vlaast cycle but especially Vysehrad , Vltava and Czech Woods and Fields. Listening to this I always imagine myself walking the ramparts of the Narodni Pamatnik watching trains cross the Vltava to and from Smichov.

Vyšehrad also serves as the jingle of the Main Station... perhaps fittingly...

Il primo movimento della raccolta 'La Mia Patria', quando il compositore boemo iniziava a non sentire più il minimo suono. Composto tra il 1874 e il 1879 a 5 anni dalla sua morte.

Mahlerman thank you for this offering. I love Smetana's Ma Vlast, particularly this first of the six tone poems. I grew up listening to classical music and this cycle is among my first musical memories. This rendering is excellent. Thanks.
