I think the lesson might be... Mario's willing to go out of his way in order to reach a single goal, to turn himself back into Mario and enjoy his spaghetti, by being a jerk he risks everything, from being kicked to being killed, this reflects on how he always went out of his way to get a single thing, spaghetti, and unintentionally he turned himself against all of his friends for that, so the goose is trying to teach Mario to be self aware, more humble, and patient, and even though the last bit was unintentional, it also serve as a lesson, and that is someone, even when Mario had been cornered, would always be there for him. That or I'm overthinking stuff

If there was an alternative ending it would go like This The same scenes from 9:24-9:59 the alternative ending happens. meggy starts to shoot the cage mario was in when the goose shows up and breaks the cage. The goose gives mario raging power before someone yells "KILL THEM!!" And so The mob charges at mario and the goose at the same time the mario and the goose of them start charging at them. The goose hjönks SMG4 and bob to space, mario pecks at meggy's eye trying to rip it out while meggy sceaming out in pain trying to swipe him away with her splattershot(correct me if i'm wrong.)but eventually gets her eye ripped out. laying down in a pile of blood struggling to breathe, meggy is kil. The goose slices off tari's whole arm with a guillotine-like sword and drowns her in a waterfall he summoned. after dealing with half of the mob, mario turns around to see boopkins before getting smacked into the air with a body pillow, peach grabs the goose by the neck before seeing mario coming down at meteor speed, lands into the ground causing a huge explosion to kill peach and boopkins.

From a behind-the-scenes standpoint, it's probably not happening. Luke and Kevin made a new character model specifically for her, so I doubt they'll use it for just a few months and then announce "oh Meggy's a inkling again." The only way it would happen is if literally the entire fanbase requested it.
