Great race! Kyle had a rocket... If only 5 more laps! 🏆

1992 was the very first year my dad and I watch the entire Nascar Winston Cup season, from the Daytona 500 to the Hooters 500 at Atlanta. At 12 years old I was so into this sport that i wanted to go to a race so bad. By mid May i convinced my dad to buy tickets to this race right here at MIS, Father's Day. For the most part just about all tickets were sold out but the Pit Terrance was still available. And so that's what we end up getting. Alot of memories enveloped on our road trip to MIS. Before we got to the track, we went to the local Hardee's for breakfast and I saw Jimmy Maker in line and a few of the interstate crew picking up their grub too. When we got to the track, my dad made the mistake of having to park in the infield, on race day morning. All for the sake of free parking and that would be a big mistake at the end of the day trying to get out. We did alot of walking and I saw Teresa Earnhardt coming out of the #3 trailer. I also got see Mark Martin by his rig, he autographed one of my race card, while I was standing behind a fence. When we got to our seats all you could of seen was the front stretch and several pit boxes in front of you so they weren't the best seats in the house. None the less I was thrilled to be there. The sights,the sounds, the speed. It was worth it! We took a portable kodak camera and we took many pictures. Most of them were blurry. However, I got this one picture where it Davey and Alan were racing together. At that time, we didnt know but that was our first and last time we saw the two racing ever again, because none of them would be returning the following season. It was also was the first and last time I got to see Richard race as the fan appreciation tour was at its halfway point. Though my man Dale finished 9th (1 lap down) I couldnt be any more happier for my dad as his favorite driver won that day and to me, that was probably the best Father's Day present he ever received!

One of the best seasons of racing there ever was, this boring race aside...

Its my favorite because of Kulwicki, he stored his dirt car in our garage for a week back in 75’, looong before he became popular.

Was you’re father lucky enough, old enough to witness the Ford Takledegas, Plymouth Superbirds, Camaros, Dodge Daytona’s of the early 70s. Anyone my age will tell you THOSE were the BEST days with REAL “STOCK”cars that, along with the Chargers, GTOs, Chevelles were just jaw dropping to look at regardless of who was winning. And jaw dropping to hear

I haven’t watched this race since 1992. Davey dominated the race, but it was great battles through the top ten. I enjoyed every lap of this race. Great upload. I was only 13 years old when this race happened.

The handful of races CBS broadcasted always seemed like a big deal and not just another race. An all star group of broadcasters.

Davey was so far out front in this one that they had to find stuff to talk about. The 28 was too hot to handle on this day!

Fords were really good this year. Im sure nascar changed the rules in 93.
@evanwilliams64065 жыл бұрын
NASCAR gave the Fords everything, Chevrolet had to figure out its new cylinder heads which caused the Chevy teams to be behind in 1992 and caused a lot of engine failures. Once they figured out the new cylinder heads, Chevrolet got back on track.
@rodneybranham71934 жыл бұрын
@@evanwilliams6406 they didn't give ford anything, yates developed a new cylinder head and as usual the Chevrolet teams were caught with their pants down and then Nascar gave the Chevrolet teams a rule break to catch up, just like they do for toyota today

@rodneybranham7193 too bad we can't talk about Nascar like this today. All the cars are the same minus a decal. They need to allow the manufacturer to develop the car and make it "stock".

Here we witness Dave’s stinking up yet another race in the #28 like he’s Cale himself. Single file racing with each car 5 car lengths apart is boring.
