There aren’t many green cures because historically in Japan the word “Aoi” covered the entire color spectrum from blue to green. So in Japan most people think of green and blue as the same color. A word for green has only been invented in Japan not too long ago “Midori”, in fact the word has been introduced as recently as about 100 years ago. That’s not a lot pf time when it comes to a language but even though that word has existed for a hundred years now it isn’t used a lot. At least I assume that’s the explanation why there aren’t many green cures. If that’s not the explanation then it’s definitely that merchandise of green cures doesn’t sell well in Japan. Not just for Precure but Magical Girls in general.

@@xenogacha7184 perhaps if the word midori gets used more as a separate color. Because pretty sure they see it as redundant to have both a blue and a green cure in the same team since to them it’s the same color. Would be kinda like having 2 pink cures in the same team, one baby pink and the other a bright pink or something. Although it kind of looks like they’re trying to get away from the standard 1 color cure themes since there’s been more colorful cures in recent years.

@@Starberry7 yeah true, I 100% agree, I think toei will use green more later on since we got another gold cure and cure wing being orange there will be more orange cures but also giving them secondary colors that stand out more, also I just wanna say that Kira Kira did something similar with cure whip and cure donut being both pink except donut was a baby pink so that makes me wonder what toei was thinking then because donut was in the finale

Technically, Cure Lilian is considered a green cure, she's just mint green if that counts but the colors used in some of her background merch is light green.

I know, I just wish we would get completely green cures instead of half green, guess blue has to overshadow green in Japan
