I fully realize what Bono meant by not wanting to sing/play "crying in your beer music," but many of their songs enable, facilitate that. That is the human condition...i.e. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." etc. Having said that, I love you Bono for you are a genius plain and simple.

The latest album from these guys (whether people think its good or not) is still a collection of songs that most bands would kill for to make an album for themselves. 40yrs & 14 albums later are and will always be the best live band ever and forever. They really are the last great band that will ever be FACT.

@@stephaniecooper1762 Yes! I listened to UF constantly when it first came out. Seems like a lifetime ago... my all-time favourite too. Funnily enough, Joshua Tree never worked for me. I'd go UF, Achtung Baby, Live Under a Blood Red Sky, October, Boy, Rattle and Hum, then JT. Everything post Achtung has kind of left me cold. My greatest disappointment with U2 was that they never captured the sound of the UF recordings live. Controversial opinion I know, but Pride and especially Bad have always sounded weak in a live context. The Live Aid version had the spontaneity, but that's it.

Spent like 20 mins reading such terrible comments...nothing I say will change your mind but, check this.. you’re hurt. You say hate them, their is a fine line between love and hate. You’re let down, you have expectations you want more and more...never satisfied and always looking for that moment you loved. These men, they’re Men..human beings, them nor you are perfect. Let it go... when you hate, you actually look like children who lost their favorite toy. Whining selfishly. I can relate with what they dropped in the 90’s, it was and is my soul food. Nowadays I listen to others more and that’s ok. One day when I run into these guys, I’ll say thank you for making me feel and see myself and my life in a way I can understand even if it was for one time. No expectations, I grew from a boy to a man through their music. And I will die a man with gratitude. Before you hate, heal your own wounds and have some class.. cause if that’s what you’re looking for, then be it. Don’t be a hypocrite like you claim to hate. Let people grow and learn from their own experience. Grow up. Peace to U2 and to the world Frost -Ground illusionz crew

He's a globalist, that's why. I have a U2 tattoo on my arm, and I will admit that. The tattoo represents more than the band, but does revolve around them obviously. But I say this because I'm not just some joker who is making comment without bias for the band. In 2017 when he put Trump down at the concert, and I see him working with these scumbags Clinton, Obama and Bush, that tells me he's a fucking sell out to the people. How can someone be so stupid? He's not. He's a globalist. Fuck him personally.

Seeing what he saw in Ethiopia at a younger age really flipped Bono’s perspective. A lot of people talk sh*t, but they’re all the same people NOT doing anything. Where’s the action? You can do better? Let’s see you do it. Stop sh*t talking and be about your criticism. Bono made it happen and keeps himself, his family and a lot of people sustained, smart about his money = real G style. That’s a boss. As far as singing goes, If Frank Sintara personally requests for you to vibe with him on drinks and cigars. You're up there with the best. Hands down, He's one of the best, nuff said about that. moving right along... If you hate? You’re most likely whack. Time for all the cry babies to put in that work and catch up to Bono’s accomplishments .... you’re late by like, 40 years 😂. Get cracking, humble up and get to work. ... We all got mad work to do. A lot fans have a great deal of respect and a good memory about what his band has done to change the game.

Man, anyone who doesnt like U2 is the equivilent of someone who would pick up a baby and not think its cute. U2 are honest to the music first and foremost. dont ever misunderstand them. Bono took on a job of trying to stop third world debt. he even succeeded in some cases. He is an action person, not an idealist like the dreamers he grew up admiring. Anyone like Bono who puts themselves out there to help the world will end up with egg on the face, cause you have to play the game atleast on the fucking surface play the game...... I was such a huge fan of this band and everything they did up through, and including Zooropa in 1993. After that, they started to lose me. POP in 1997 was daring and interesting, if not great. All That You Can’t Leave Behind in 2000 was refreshing to hear them shift into a pop-rock sound with a few memorable melodies. After that, they really started losing their touch. Yes, there have been a handful of decent songs over the past 15 years, but this band is a pale shadow of what they were from 1980 - 1993. They still put on a good show, but it’s unfortunately more like a “greatest hits” show now. Long ago Bono said that he didn’t want U2 to become The Rolling Stones, but that’s exactly who they have become. A good band who had a legendary stretch of making great music, which ended a very, very long time ago.

It's comical to me that there's always someone saying U2 hasn't done anything good since [fill in the blank] but they're spending time commenting on an interview with this band. Seriously? This is how you choose to spend your time? Maybe you're the pale shadow of what you could be if you spent your time on something you find worthwhile.
@1970brenz5 жыл бұрын
I may not agree with Bono's politics at all, but I think he and the band have amazing talent. I find overall that it's music I really like and has quite an emotional element I don't find in many other bands. Some of their song lyrics are more 'real' and honest about life, than many other bands. They talk about spiritual things but not in a worn out, preachy way. It always seems fresh. I don't think they seek to just sell, or why would they have tried to give that album away. But they seem to genuinely want to make music they find meaningful and care about, and they love to share it with others.
@michaelg24786 жыл бұрын
Do people forget how good U2 were back in the day? Even an album like Rattle & Hum had songs like "Desire", Angel of Harlem" "All I Want Is You". I understand it's cool to hate on them because of the past 20 years, but c'mon, when all is said and done, that period from 1980-1991 was mind boggling.
