The whole thing with the renaissance men was that it was a joke they came up with early in the episode production but kinda forgot about it as they worked more on the plot, and when they finally brought it up again near the end of production they just had the men come in and kill the Frowning Friends right after the wholesome bit to make the moment more random and funny

I always thought helium was something that was abundant and renewable since we use it in balloons for parties or theme parks. Now after doing a quick search, well we are not running out of helium but it is definitely NOT a renewable resource. Can't believe this show taught me something so interesting about an element I take for granted.

Reasonable explanation. Though on some level I'm hoping we can literally create helium by just putting some atoms together and making a reserve. And given to how advance science is getting to be in that regard it might happen. Just holding out some hope, for the little things in life.

A fun fact about the Frowning Friends is that they are a jab at nihilistic characters in adult cartoons like Family Guy and Smiling Friends. Like in those shows, the Frowning Friends are depicted as immoral nihilists who think they are ahead of the curve, believing that since the world is rotten, everyone should be rotten as well as a status quo. In actuality, they are apathetic killjoys who want everyone to be miserable and unproductive, bringing up the world's problems but never doing anything to fix them, unlike the Smiling Friends. Even after making a speech about how "nothing matters," Grim breaks down and soils himself after Mr. Boss threatens him with a rifle, reflecting the hypocrisy of nihilists who don't honestly believe what they preach.

I like this show because of things like the renaissance men. Lot of shows like this try to put some sort of meaning in their jokes but I appreciate that Smiling Friends doesn't have a meaningful or political punchline, and the fact that their jokes don't have a punchline "is" the punchline

Actually, Charlie's design is a straight copy of Zach's design of himself. Big nose and small protruding lips. The thing on Charlie's face IS his nose, it's just that the other guy has his design but with the facial features in different spots

It is insane how thoughtful this episode is. It tackles current problems of division in society. But of course the majority won't pay attention to that because it is a "filthy adult swim show" and they can't get over the other extremes this type of show goes to. It was funny, but definitely a sad funny.

Oh the whole helium thing is wrong that number is for the American reserve that was ended in the 70’s for some reason the government thought they should stock pile helium so that’s we’re it’s been coming from it estimated that we have a couple hundred years worth of helium in the earth
