In reality the teams they beat to get to the finals this year were playing poorly. Dragons had a couple good games but overall both them and the Leviathans were playing poorly. It made the Titans looks better than they really were compared to the Kings. There really was only one team that was playing solid good Smite this weekend and it was the Kings. Good for them and good for Twig at the end of the day.

I just want to explain why this world championship was such a walkover. In the past, we had some great 5 game sets, and the reason is this: After buffing HP, HiRez went on to absolutely destroy any benefits of that by constantly buffing characters and items over and over, to the point where if one team has specific characters, you CANNOT win. Warrior items were buffed to the point of breaking, hunters can delete even a tank with ease, mages have too much pen, and assassins can destroy a squishy with 2-3 abilities. In order to rectify this, HiRez needs to take a long look at what has worked in the past. People actually love playing an hour long game, if it feels like a good fight. You know what sucks? A 10 minute surrender every other game, and one team steamrolling the other before 20 minutes. The only reason "average game time" is so long, is that there are tons of casual players who just want to chill and play. Actually experienced players who want to win either win devastatingly, or lose horrifically. There is rarely an in-between. So HiRez, please stop buffing, and start nerfing. Make damage less hurty, and make tanks tanky. Warriors should be able to fight for a while, and do damage, but not delete or get deleted. Mages should have high burst, but not the ability to kill a hunter in 1 ability + poly proc. Hunters should be able to shred squishies with ease, but have a harder time against tanks. As it stands, TANKS ARE BUILDING DAMAGE in most of my games, because there is too much scaling, and too little reason to build tanky when you get wrecked immediately. Thanks - A 10 year player

I would also like to point out that everyone I talked to about the SWC this year said it was boring too watch, people were deleted way too fast, and it simply wasn't an enjoyable experience. HiRez, you actually need to nerf damage outputs. Make the game fun again. Make high skill the differentiating factor, NOT itemization and character selection.

My low level plat or diamond play is modest compared to yours, I'm sure, but when you play thousands of games and see new trends that frustrate you and your teammates from having fun, things aren't balanced. Furthermore, conquest isn't the only game mode. When you are losing to Thor's 100% of the time in slash, and he has top damage and 15 kills regularly before 10 minutes, there's an issue. Whem atlas is top damage at level 16 building full tank, there's an issue. Major reworks are needed, and increasing kill potential isn't the answer most of the playerbase is looking for.

Man, I wish I could get hype for comp Smite, but I just can't anymore. I feel like it is a huge snoozefest for the longest time and then it is just teams looking at each other over an objective. Just as a spectator it is so boring to me now. Ganks don't mean anything and don't normally work, the pathing is straight forward, and the early game is just too slow fighting wise. Idk what it is, but I just can't find anything I really enjoy about watching comp anymore ;( congrats to BMT tho. Been wanting him to get a ring since like 3 seasons ago. P.S. that cinematic for the new god was ASS comparatively to other stuff Hirez has released.

The meta has shifted heavily to farming because of all the shit they've put onto the map, now it's more about the invades, min maxing and objective play. I personally enjoy this type of play too, it's practically a chess match and brains not just arena games like it used to be kinda, we'll see with the new season changes how it affects the matches and dynamic

@@mort996 i understand the "chess match" aspect of the game where players have to put a lot of thought into positioning, ganks, wards, and team fighting, but i'd prefer to see stuff like that throughout the game rather than purely late. like i dont want to have it where both teams just focus on hyper farming all game or where one pick snowballs a lane entirely with no shot of recovery... idk, it is just me being picky, but it feels so passive in a way now since players have refined their mechanics and theories of how the game should be played.

The problem with ganks is if they are made more valuable than farming then every game becomes a snowball. The pros are also just better now vs in the past. You rarely see anyone up out of position and if a team goes for a dive the other side should be rotating over and clean up or find something on the other side of the map.

Bruh Smite is so boring now. I knew who was gonna win worlds weeks before SWC even started. Like how does Hirez expect to make these games exciting when you've had the exact same teams who have been competing all year long, playing together again?! Like literally all worlds was, was a glorified SPL match. Kings basically dominated all year long, and they thought playing on a live stage was gonna somehow change the outcome? Idk how the geniuses at Hirez don't seem to be able to figure this out. Smite is such a good concept of a game, but because of how badly Hirez is managing the game, it is slowly dying. Player count goes down each year. Like you know it's bad, when even the teams that lost don't really seem to care. I remember back in seasons 1-5, every team that lost in the finals was DEVASTATED, and you could clearly see it in their faces how much it hurt to have gotten so far just to be denied at the very end. But ever since season 7, the teams that lost were just like "meh" about it. In fact, even the Camelot Kings who won weren't even hype about it! LMAO! Like who can forget the legendary reactions of Cog Prime in season 1, Epsilon in season 2, NRG season 3, Eunited season 4, and Splyce season 5? Those guys went beast mode after they won. But now? Even the players themselves don't care that they won, because they pretty much expected it based on how hard they dominated all year round. Tsk tsk, another great game being brought down by their own creators.

Oh im sorry that you expected the best team to win it all. Kings were just the best. Simple as that. Im sure in other seasons there were powerhouse teams that never lost and then in worlds they got eliminated (Rival/Ghost). Its just about who shows up and thats it. Titans did great and got levis and jade when they were a team to get eliminated at quarters. It feels like your rant is just because kings won and thats it. If anything the worlds live gave new life to smite in the pro scene from what it has been happening. Previous pros that retired coming back (Adapting/Baskin). Maybe you cannot enjoy the game and thats understandable but the game is not dead. Heres an example that players DO CARE. Check semis between kings and bolts. Ven was shown crying, ffs that team even though it got decimated tried their goddamn best but they lost. TLDR: your case that the game is dead is just your perspective, maybe people agree but i politely disagree.

@@theBinsen LOL! Clearly you didn't read my comment at all. If you had payed attention, my "rant" was more on the mismanagement of Smite from Hirez, and not the teams themselves. If you notice I never mentioned anything in regards of who deserved to win or not. My post was about how predictable everything was. Like literally the most exciting game that happened at worlds was Titans vs Dragons in the semis. That was literally the only game in the entire tournament that could've gone either way. Every single other game, most people knew exactly who was going to win. Heck, I'll even argue that PLACEMENTS were more exciting! LMAO! At least in placements you had 2 different regions coming together for the first time to battle it out for a spot at worlds. The fact that 2 SCC teams were able to beat 2 SPL teams (granted the 2 worst teams of the league), was something that was more exciting to see than Kings beating the Titans again, just like they had been doing ALL YEAR LONG. Also, you're wrong about Smite getting a new life because of this worlds. If you compare this live worlds, to the last live worlds (Season 6), just by glancing at the audience, I would say there was about 500 people showing up this year, where as in Season 6 easily there were 1000 people who showed up. How exactly is this telling you that the game is alive again? Not only that, like I mentioned before, the player count goes DOWN each year! Not sure how your logic works, but it's not that great based on the numbers. Lastly, since you clearly didn't bother to read comprehensively, I said that the concept of the game itself is great, but because of how badly it gets managed, the game is dying. So yes I do enjoy playing the game. I mean I wouldn't have made it to Masters with 3k+ mmr for 6 years straight if I didn't, but there's more to it when you're dealing with an esports team.
