Nice detailed video. I had every generation of the LCP. The day the BG2.0 came out, I put my name on one at my LGS. It really is a game changer for pocket 380’s. I picked up a non safety model, but I picked up a safety model for my wife. Knowing now how tiny the safety is, I probably would have picked up a safety one for myself. I do mainly IWB carry the BG2.0. The magazines haven’t really softened up spring wise, and I’ve got over 600 rounds through mine. No biggie. I just use the Uplula.

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 is THE BEST 380 micro-subcompact pistol that has been designed and manufactured in the last 50 years! Ive had many different kinds over the years and this new Bodyguard 2.0 take the cake in ALL CATAGORIES! There is no comparison what so ever, at all. And YES... it's better than the Sig 365. Smaller, thinner and half the weight. I have the Sig too, but no way. I recommend anybody looking for a pistol to go take a look. I highly recommend it if your looking for this size pistol. It's that good.also comes with two (2) magazines. Imagine that. This old crap of pistols coming with just one magazine makes zero sense. As for all the folks out there asking if it will accept an optic, or a light, come down to earth. Your not John Wick. That's a movie. Why would you want to bolt on a bunch of crap on your pistol to make it heavier and larger? Optics suck on concealed carry pistols and lights on concealed carry pistols make no sense to me. You want it small for a reason. In reality, you would most likely want to pack something light and rather small, even if it's not the new S&W. Practice practice, practice!

50 years is a long time. So S&W has now produced another generation of “LCP” with an extra magazine. S&W was very late to the party for capacity and sights.

I just ordered the lcp max. My biggest reasons were price and holster availability. It was hard to pass on the Max at 250 bucks. Once my preferred holster companies make body guard holsters I'll probably try one out.

Best review of the S&W I’ve seen to date. I’ve pocket carried the original LCP for over 10 yrs & never experienced a single problem w/any kind of ammo so I have confidence in it. I will say my old LCP is no fun to shoot so I’ll be checking out the Smith soon.

This is a very detailed comparison of the most popular pocket gun and the new contender. One very important thing you didn't mention is that the bore axis of the BG2.0 is much lower than the LCP Max. This allows for a much less "snappy" feel when shooting. The recoil is directed into the web of the shooting hand, making target acquisition for the second round much faster.

😅I’m sure the BG 2.0 is a fine gun and if I did not already have the Ruger LCP Max, I would have gotten one. I purchased the LCP Max 75th anniversary edition around 6 months ago on PSA. Paid only $269 for it. It’s been flawless over 500 rounds thus far. I’ll stick with the LCP.

Insert the 12-round mags into each gun, but this time, instead of comparing just the HEIGHT of the two guns, measure their lengths from the tops of their front sights to the bottom rear (heel) of the grip. It looks like the 12- rounder changes the grip profile of the Smith more drastically than the Ruger, increasing the backstrap length as well as the size difference between the two guns. Ruger designed the LCP with rounded corners and smooth edges, for pocketability, while the S&W is more angular in design, for ergonomics.

When I bought the LCP Max it had only been out for a month and it came with the 12 round mag along with the 10 rounder. I've carried it ever since. I like the Smith ergonomics far better than the Ruger, not sure it's enough to take the loss on the Ruger to acquire the Smith. With my hands the 12 rounder affords me a full grip on the Max.

Purchase a pocket holster even the less expensive ones like Sticky work great, place the firearm in the holster first. Pocket carry without a holster is asking for a trip to the ER.

@@Mike-cu6gkA true pocket gun has a heavy trigger and is hammer-fired: Beretta 21a, original Ruger LCP, Beretta Pico, S&W J-frame, etc. They're perfectly safe to carry in the pocket, without a holster. It's the striker-fired guns that require an external safety, because of their short, light triggers, or a holster that covers the trigger guard.

@@georgegravette1132 i agree but for me personally even when I carry my j-frame 642 I still use a holster just to keep it in place for a clean draw. Anyway everyone is different manual safety, no safety, holster, no holster, this and that it gets tiring after a while.

Why would you care about whether or not you need a tool to disassemble the gun? What are you going to do with the gun once you disassemble it, that does NOT require other tools anyway, like a cleaning brush, rod, patches, oil, etc.? Would it kill you to keep, let's say, a small screwdriver in your cleaning/maintenance kit?

New subscriber here🙋‍♂, KZbin recommended this video, likely because I have been watching all the BG 2.0 reviews.👍 I picked up the BG 2.0 about a month ago, I like the pistol just fine, I'm still not comfy with only having 380 on me.🤷‍♂ Good comparison of the two.👍 I have been fondling the LCP Max for over a year every time I was in the tool store. I never liked the way it felt in my hand and never bought one. The Bodyguard 2.0 is different, it feels good in my hand.👊 I have been seeing the LCP Max for sub $200 since the release of the BG 2.0, I bet Ruger has an upgrade to the LCP Max in short order, and I am waiting to see what it is.😁 The slide locking back on the last round is an issue with the grip for me, I ride the release. But there is something different about my grip on the 10 round magazine that amplifies this.🤷‍♂

I don’t argue that the smith is a little nicer pistol. My concern and I don’t own one so I’m speculating maybe someone can answer this for me. Like the glock 42 the smith seems similar size and it’s just a little to big to be a real pocket pistol. I can carry the max in my pocket all day doesn’t show. The glock was a nice little gun but it was just a little to big to be a pocket gun I think the smiths going to be the same. Great for a purse or inside the waste ban but not a pocket gun? Maybe I’m wrong I admit I don’t own the smith.
@Arrowhead-wp8od

The Smith is identical to the lcp max in every dimension except it appears to be thinner and the beaver tail on the grip is maybe a quarter or eighth inch longer. Definitely not Glock 42 sized.

The Ruger is a true pocket pistol, having evolved from the original LCP, which was designed as a pocket gun. S&W may call theirs a Bodyguard, but it's pretty much just a down-sized Shield, a replacement for, rather than a upgrade, of their original Bodyguard. The dimensional differences may not seem like much, but in true pocket carry, millimeters count; the longer slide and grip (with extended mag) of the Bodyguard (not to mention the lack of the rounded edges of the Ruger) make it harder to carry and draw from a pocket. The Bodyguard seems more like a miniature micro-compact 9mm, best carried in a holster, while the Ruger seems more purpose-built, to be carried and drawn from a pocket.
@Arrowhead-wp8od
@Arrowhead-wp8od 25 күн бұрын
They are the exact same size man. Not sure what your motive is but this just isn't true, if the Ruger will fit in a pocket, so will the Smith. There is no pocket that exists that the Ruger will fit in but the bodyguard is too big. Also the grip is not longer on the Smith, it's the exact same as the Ruger, you just get more grip because Smith undercut the trigger guard and Ruger did not even attempt to.

Ruger uses secure action in this gun. The hammer has a hammer catch the essentially acts like a firing pin safety so they are equally safe. I wish ruget would have added the additional firing pin safety and it would have been an additional advantage.
@Arrowhead-wp8od
@Arrowhead-wp8od Ай бұрын
Can you explain how this works? It looked to me like basically just a safety notch on the hammer, not arresting movement of the firing pin at all if it were to be struck.

@@Arrowhead-wp8odif the sear were to disengage due to its momentum when dropped, in theory the sear should spring back, catch the 2nd notch on the hammer. I still prefer a firing pin block. It doubles as redudency in the case od the sear physically breaking
