Fantastic video. I'd never heard of Bug until now but will definitely be seeking it out.

Something I always appreciate about your work is your ability to expose me to films that I otherwise wouldn’t be really able to stomach by itself.

I remember seeing this movie come in when I worked at a video store. Kinda wish I hadn't passed on it and took it home with the free employee rental.

I love this video. I love this channel. It's good to see you doing movie analysis again. I'd heard of Bug but I've never managed to get around to seeing it. It looks like a hellishly difficult film to sit through.

I love how the video portions with you run parallel to the events of the movie, and how you end with going outside and *literally* touching grass, that was a great moment I'd never heard of this movie before but now I'm definitely going to check it out! Thanks for another great video essay, Matt!

I’m a fledgling video essayist (using just my iPhone and iMovie until I can improve my editing setup lol) and this is the quality and focus that I aim to bring to my videos! I came across this in a twitter thread and I fucking love the play and film Bug, and your video highlights and illustrates so many great aspects of both versions. This video deserves tons of views!!

What an amazing analysis with which to kick off your rebrand. Your work was and continues to be fantastic. I saw this in the theater when it came out with my girlfriend at the time who, like me, expected some type of…maybe gory creature feature from title alone and the little the marketing gave off. I haven’t thought about it much in the years since other than just how bewildered we both were after if was done. But you’ve shown it is truly a tightly-wound excellent character drama by way of psychological horror.

Haven’t seen it but enjoyed your delivery and analysis very much. As someone with a mental health background, I agree that wanting to feel important, loss and grief are, IMO the drivers of paranoia.

A good breakdown of a movie I've never been able to enjoy. Haven't seen it in years.
