This house is mind blowing in person. The interior carpentry , which was done by hand makes most finish carpenters today look like amateurs . It’s really worth a visit if you have the means and time.

@StrnFn9099 it is spectacular , but the price of a ticket today is ludicrous . $94 dollars for one person . 😳 When i went many years ago it was $35 and the tour was rather restrictive . i was interested in the top floor maids and butlers quarters and other obscure areas of the home that show how the staff lived . i tried to go up and the guards flipped out . rightly so i suppose but their attitude was very condescending and sarcastic . The website gives the impression that you can roam around at will but that's a bit of a stretch.

It's expensive, $94 a ticket. The video says over 1 million visitors each year, and at that rate would gross the estate over $100 mil a year. A plus, they have no shortage of workers there, plenty of staff to ask questions of, or get directions. Tickets are timed e.g. entry at 12 noon, 1 pm, etc. And they are metering guests at the front door to avoid overcrowding. The tour runs through about half the house, the rest is sectioned off and presumably private.
