Mine just came in today and picked it up after work. Did not get a chance to shoot it,but I've been playing around with it, checking it out. Mine feels like it is really well built and fit, and the finish is great. Action is smooth as butter, and the lever is not sloppy. A little front heavy because the thick barrel but not bad. Pics make it look bigger than it is. once you get it in hand, it still feels compact handy. For having a polymer stock, it dont feel cheap like some do. It's pretty solid, but pad is nice not too hard not to soft. All and all well made gun. Just got to see how it shoots. If you plan on getting one shop around, the price are all over the place. Some companies are selling well over msrp some are selling just a little under or around the same as msrp. Buds has them last time i looked for 1600 lol no thanks they can keep them. I got mine from a place in Colorado springs for a little under msrp. Other place was out of stock

S&W ,Why not make a lever gun in stainless steel to handle the S&W .500 OR THE .460 ? My guess it would be an instant hit among any firearm person ! I used to hint that idea to the Marlin folks .....
@Tigershark-qy2gq8 ай бұрын
Me too. Constantly. They never listened. Hopefully S&W will realize the .460 and .500 were meant to be in this rifle line. I'd buy both calibers instantly upon release. I'd preorder them if they said they were coming imminently.

Beleive it or not but S&W had rights or some sort of hand in the influences of Henry and Winchester lever guns back in the day so Henry cant really be pissed at S&W coming back. I wish S&W would bring back their Volcanic pistol both in the original form amd modern day config. That woulda been cool

Great for the American hunter, yes, but lots of others could use it too. Once, a relative from Germany was visiting my home. He had gotten into hunting late in life. He had a house in the country and joined the local guild. They were actually responsible for game control in an area. So, he went from a novice hunter to bagging 50 deer and 50 wild hogs a year. The thing is that they can sell the meat. I tell this story because when I showed him my Winchester 94 Trapper in .44 Rem. Mag. his eyes went big. He said that would be the perfect hog gun.
@FyremaelGlittersparkle11 ай бұрын
I'd be interested in buying one of these, but that trigger play concerns me. When you see the man operating the lever, that trigger is wobbling back and forth pretty freely and you can see a lot of take-up in the pull when he goes to fire the shot. It seems like a trigger job to shim up that trigger or at least take 90% of the creep out of it should be done BEFORE it leave the factory. I was always under the impression lever actions were supposed to have nice, crisp triggers, akin to those on a 1911.
@cleetismcdougall542511 ай бұрын
Yep, first thing I noticed on other videos. I don’t think Henry has much to worry about unless S&W gets smart and starts cranking out 357/38….and actually keeps suppliers stocked.

I heard a S&W rep at the SHOT show call the 1854 44 mag a “throw back to our heritage”. I’m a 10mm guy since about 1990. Super excited with the S&W M&P 10… bought two. Both jammed regularly, (failure to feed), The magazine fell out the bottom while shooting in both, and on one the supplied plastic optics plate cracked, the screws sheered, and my RMR flew backwards over my head. I sent them back to S&W twice. Failure to feeds continued after receiving them back each time. Called a third time and was transferred to a girl who sounded quite young. She interrupted me, talked over me, and told me that my request that S&W exchange my pistols wasn’t going to happen since the issues were fixable. And she said that I “should shoot better quality ammo”. I guess higher quality than the Federal, Fiocci, Mag Tech, Sig, and Hornady that I had written them about failing, and that I spent a fortune on testing their guns. I filed a BBB complaint but through mediation had no confidence in S&W’s offer to “service my guns”, (for the third time). I wonder if engineering a defective product and then having an arrogant and entitled sounding young lady dismiss your victims is also a throwback to S&W’s heritage; or perhaps rather, they are turning over in their graves.
@Vladimir-xq6rz11 ай бұрын
What in the world does this have to do with this gun???
@davidinoklahoma562711 ай бұрын
@@Vladimir-xq6rz Nothing, other than my opinion that S&W produces defective products. But more related to this post, the S&W 1854 lever gun might also be a defective product. See for yourself, but my take was the new S&W 1854 Lever action repeatedly jammed attempting to feed 44 Special rounds in Honest Outlaw's review last week.

Lifelong S&W fan here, 45+ years. I have a large collection of S&W revolvers and pistols. I would not have this lever gun in my collection though. A rail on a lever gun, NO. Synthetic stocks with M-Lock slots on a lever gun, NO. Threaded barrel on a lever gun, NO. You are not Honoring an historic milestone by catering to this new generation Zero and all of their tacticool crap on a lever gun. It does not belong nor does it look good. I am on a lot of large gun forums as a long time member and most people do not like this. Bring out a classic wood and steel lever gun with classic sights and I'm in.
@FlapjackKalanchoe11 ай бұрын
If this gets zoomers into the gun community, I think we should celebrate it. The 2A needs to live past your or my generation. Let them have fun and exercise their rights. They might even buy some classics after getting the new hotness.
@JohnSmith-xv2ob11 ай бұрын
They DO have a classic wood and steel version slated for release. Plus, while I prefer wood and steel for anesthetics, you could apply this same logic to any type of gun, and if that were the case, Firearms would never evolve. If you don't like it, or the wood offering they have on the website, grab a Henry. Those are great. But personally I like the synthetic look for one reason; rust proofing.
@cvr52711 ай бұрын
I have to add to what has already been said. I have several traditional levers that I love. What this model gives is the ability to easily and securely mount a tac-light to the gun. This is an essential piece of equipment for feral hogs in low light and or bears/dangerous animals. The traditional version of this is expensive, but beautiful.

The lever action community is begging for affordable .460 S&W and .500 S&W lever action rifles. I was about to buy a T/C Contender in .500 S&W plus a .460 Smith barrel, but you guys killed that line of single shot T/C rifles. The only company selling .460, and .500 lever actions, are unaffordable at the moment. They're asking $3500 to over $10,000 for their lever rifles. Everyone wants them, but few can afford them. You can change that unfortunate situation for us all that are willing to pay regular prices for a rifle, but not the present insane asking price of the competition. Make the 1854 in those two calibers and I'll buy one in each caliber.
