I regularly fast/skip forward how-to videos, but you've got a unique, humorous delivery style, so I watched all the way to the end without skipping anything. Short, to the point, and useful, thank you!

@@JayDowney No, they came with my new bumper and I had to constantly tighten them. Pretty sure they would come apart and fall off before too long. Thanx

I love that you leave the struggles in that most of us are likely to go through while trying it ourselves...most videos have those parts cut out, making it look easier than it really is. Good tip and video. 👍

Great idea. I'm doing this. I lost one of my d-rings on the road while driving and couldn't stop to pick it up because of all the traffic. Thank you for this video.
@JayDowney3 жыл бұрын
Yea, the highway vibration alone can cause you to loose them, not to mention thieves etc. at this point mice are seized with rust, haha, but never lost one yet. Glad you found the vid and it helped!

You have an awesome sense of humor..."As long as the thieves don't watch this video!" Cracked me up. Thanks for the tip. Great video. I'll be doing this tomorrow when I put on my new bumper. I saw where someone said to mash up the threads or weld them to keep them from getting stolen, but I think that would limit their use. I have snatch ropes that I use on the D rings so I have to take mine off to put on the ropes. But I guess you could loop them through if the ropes were small enough. Mine, however, are not. So I'll be using your tip here. Nice Jeep too!
@JayDowney8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. haha. Yes, I am the same way, I use straps, so I need to be able to pull the pin. Then when I'm finished, just put a new zip-tie on!
@hardinautosalesllc5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this great tip. I will do this to my D-rings as well. Though there not all that expensive it's still a pain to lose one, so why not use a cheap zip tie. Don't forget to mention safety issues as well, the poor souls behind you when one falls off. Thank you and keep them tips coming

A small idea , do not cut the ends of your of tie bag open . Cut a small 1” semi-circle in the middle of the side of the bag with scissors . Pinch a tie and it will fold as pulled through the opening .
@darrylmansfield79549 жыл бұрын
Great idea - I used stainless steel zip ties and carry some snips as part of my standard kit. Even tougher for some thief to steal your D-Ring. Thanks for sharing the idea.

Thanks for the video and a fresh idea. I have seen people use some mild Loctite compounds and also just see others tighten the bow shackle with a wrench so that a wrench is needed to loosen it again. Stay safe on the trails!

If You Want to KEEP YOUR SHACKLE...ON THE RIG...You Can Bang up ( smash ) the extending Threads with a Chisel or Hammer. Better Security is to " Spot Weld" or string a bead of weld at the Threads to the Shackle . Any Muffler Shop , or Iron Works - ( Security Door Shop) could fix You up in 15 minutes. I had one of My "Hardened " Shackles Un - screwed and Stolen by a Low Life AAA Tow Service Driver , that evidently needed more than I did...since he had his own private tow truck , and ran a part-time "Service" on the down low... Don't make it easy for the tempted THIEVES.

Dude my favorite part of the video was that awesome blade you cut the extra zip tie with! I just got my own D shackle set up and just torqued it down with a big driver. I'm probably switching to the zip tie trick because with my luck it will rust in place in New England!
