Answer on the paintbrand question: i have found loop to be reliable. The pressure is just on point, coverage is ok, takes mostly all caps, has a good range of colors and decently priced. Just works so well. I think 94 has too low pressure but they work well indoors and on detailed work, but loop does it really good too. 1. So to the tagging discussion. I guess you dont like the destructive element of tagging, but if you like calligraphy, then I dont understand why not liking tags too. There are so many talented people with great handstyles, with a great flow (in calligraphy everything flows so nice because there are certain strokes you have to follow, but I like tagging more because of freedom, you can do whatever you want and if you understand it then the result looks just as satisfying as calligraphy). I would like to see you do some tags and throwups as well, because you never do them. they are also part of graffiti, so I think improving your skills in this artform would be good for you. for example you dont have 3d, shadows, fill effects and extra elements in tags, just lines. so you have to learn how to make it look dope even without all the extra things. and i think that it improves your understanding of letter structure, angles of letters and flow... and is beneficial for you when doing pieces (this factory is perfect for that, because you probably wont get a commision for tags or throwups, but here you can do whatever you want). 2. im using loop cans, because of 3 reasons - they are the cheapest brand i can get in my local shop, have a little lower pressure than for example montana black, the come with skinny caps by default, which i use more often (saving paint compared to fat caps), so i dont have to buy that much extra of them.
@SMOENOVA2 жыл бұрын
thanks for the long comment, haha… yeah, I tagged a lot but somehow the spark of tagging never catchend me… I do not want to be a real writer… I just have fun doing what I love, that`s it… Instead of practicing tagging, I love to sketch on my ipad pro much more…

About the tagging arguement. Like Earsnot said "Tagging is the buttery essence of graffiti" and it truly is the essence. I was told from a heavy hitter in my city after he wanted to link up with me when I was just toying about doing throwies and tags around the city in a pretty good quantity. "Work on those hands, the way to see if you got it or not is your handstyle". 15 years later it always stuck with me and it's true. Our legal wall is filled with new kids straight up biting writers that are around on social media and even if you didn't notice it from their letters their handstyle says it all. Tagging and all its intricacies you simply can't ignore how fundamental tagging is. + The skill some of these dudes have when it comes to their flow and style, sure you could argue it's a sports activity, but you could argue graffiti as awhole is a sports activity, the essence of graffiti has always been to "get ups" when it comes to the illegal aspect. You speaking of coming from a small town in Germany not wanting to tag on timber houses etc. Fully understandable! I'd personally never drop a tag on a timber house out in a small town. Who's gonna see it? Other writers? Nah, i'd say it would be meaningless as it would only annoy the people living there and it would most likely get buffed fast. I believe your morals and what you respect in graff comes from where you were brought up i.e main city, big city, small town etc. And of course your peers. People who paint legal, nothing wrong with it. Here in Sweden alot of heavy hitters paint legals while also doing panels and bombing. People might look down on people that only paint legals sure. I'd say if you've done your dues illegally there is nothing wrong about transferring over to legals. I think people have a problem with people who talk hard but never hit the yard mostly. Painting illegally is almost a right of passage where if you've been up, people respect you put in work. Commission work that goes over someone elses piece that has been done illegally i'd say is a no go any way some people try and twist and turn it. Respect your opinion though, you burn hard and no one can say otherwise.

Very nice video again. Thank you so much! The old factory is amazing and you're a very talented artist. Thanks to 'Voice-over Smoe' for providing us with some background information and useful tips while we watch your process. He is so fun much to listen to! I also like the parts where you hear nothing but spray cans and the occasional background noise so you can really soak up the atmosphere. I feel the raw video you did before this one had many more of those moments and I would like to see them return in your next raw video. After 3 hours of watching the music I could've used a break. I think I would prefer it to have no music at all. As for your question: I prefer MONTANA BLACK. The pressure seems just right and the colors cover so well! They're good for details and for fast coverage.Plus there are a lot of colors to choose from. Also like LOOP COLORS very much although they don't always seem to get along with some of the Montana caps. Looking forward to your next video!! maybe another collab with Doke?

What do you think is an efficient way to practice without wasting paint? I have some Montana/other cans but they are so expensive I get stressed using them because i know i can't afford them always. And the cheap cans spit so much paint and only have male valves so practicing finer details is very hard, stupid United States paints! I absolutely love you and your artwork and just wish I could practice more but I feel like I'm just wasting materials and money. Any recommendations would make my day! Keep being amazing SMOE! 💙

A beauty of a piece as always, nice production with the rats too 👌👌. I get your view on tags, while when I was young I did used to tag everywhere but now I'm an old man, I just don't have inkling to do them (in fact I very really even sign my pieces), and it is because of them that Graff artists get a bad name (or certainly do in the UK), but playing devil's advocate I can see the point of them, but there not for me. Paint wise I use loop with standard caps, I tried Montana black & gold but found they had an opacity to them, whereas loop seems to cover better, however I do have some Kobra & London paint (awful stuff, but ok for first lines), but generally if a shop is having a sale on a certain brand I'll buy that paint and use that, but overall I just prefer Loop overall.

Is there a reason why moodys character is the only one who had that brown run down rusty effect? It looks off with the rest of the natural background

his highlights collided with the light background and so he had to find a solution that it does not blurr together

If i was on the demo crew that razed this building it would be both the best and worst day of my life. To walk around and see wrk by smoe, doke and other of the worlds best artists, would be a dream. But then, have to destroy them. IDK if i even could. Might just quit. Lol

Will tagging in NYC was the way to get your name out there. Now when I say out there I mean in NYC we have all the trains line. So if you live in Brooklyn like me I will tag every train I could this way my tag will go to the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan all over the city other writers we see your tag. And give you that respect.But I’m talking 70, and 80 and maybe the 90 that was the good old days now and days tagging is not not the same.. anyway love your work peace From FoCuS BKNY¡
