I’ve got to agree …I’m floored by his smooth detailed and thoughtful teaching style plus his technique is VVS - 1. I use to grade diamonds for a living and Alex is internally flawless or IF - with a Color grade of D (divine) , round brilliant cut with medium bow tie, Fluoresces under ultraviolet light with small culet . Remarks: “ The Dude is Flawless” and as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen 🙂. Parker

Ever messed around with how Curtis tuned his guitar? The first time I heard things song my when they have little guitar break I thought to myself "wait... even Jimi had influences" haha
@AlexFarranGuitar3 ай бұрын
Hey! Yeah I’ve played around with Curtis’s tuning a few times but prefer to move these concepts back into standard for teaching purposes. I explore open tunings an awful lot and will do some videos on that kinda stuff soon I think. Oh man, yeah the influence on Jimi is very clear to see isn’t it! 👌🏻🍻

I love how you hammer on so lightly but with a lot of soul. I see how Hendrix was influenced by Curtis which is something i never realized in my youth. Im still working on two arrangements for now and learning alot. Once i have them down well i'm going to dive into this one. Do you like Jeff Becks version of this song? take care, tom :)
@AlexFarranGuitar6 ай бұрын
Thanks Tom, I’m really glad you dig it! Oh yeah for sure.. it really shows in Jimi’s playing doesn’t it? 👌🏻 I do like Jeff Beck’s version.. funnily enough, I hadn’t heard that until fairly recently!
@maineguitarists6 ай бұрын
The tone he gets when he plays the signature slide riff is so clean but yet screaming. I played acoustic blues instrumentals solo for a few years performing until covid. Both venues that i played at no longer exist. Sucks as i miss performing., it kept my chops up and i got a few bucks and like making people happy. I always was able to splice blues riffs into arrangements, making them my own but do find the gypsy jazz style and things you are teaching a little more challenging. I didn't use a flatpick for about ten years, using a thumb pick and fingers. I use one now of course as to hit certain notes you need one. I'll stop rambling lol. Raining here in Maine, i'm supposed to straighten out the barn. I promised my wife lol. I'll bring my Bose S1 and listen to tunes of course or nothing will get done. On the jimmie rivers tune "jimmys blues" im having trouble with one part where you play a plethora of notes quickly. Ill break it into segments like you teach. Almost got that number down nicely! ttyl, @@AlexFarranGuitar
