It'll be hard for him to see the field early with two all pros in front of him in Marcus maye and tyrann Matthieu... Not to mention that Ceedy deuce plays at safety in some sets and he's an up and coming fan favorite. The contracts for both all pro safeties are only two years though so smoke should see the field in his second year if the saints do bad( the second year is always voidable in these two year deals with NOLA,So if the saints fail to make the playoffs and they think Jameis isnt the answer they could cut their losses with Matthieu and Maye both after one season as both make about ten million more a year than smoke and another rookie would make.Same situation for CB Bradley Roby who played great for Nola ) and no later than his third year if the saints do well. I think smoke will have himself a home in new Orleans regardless of any way it goes. I'll tell you this I think right now the saints are building a core of young players in the secondary that maximizes ball skills over speed and quickness examples include Paulson Adebo,CJGJ,Smoke Monday and Alontae Taylor. Its an interesting approach to defense and I haven't seen it done right for sometime. Not since the old Saints had the dome patrol in 90-91-92-93 that team produced SO MANY takeaways yet you could get behind them because they lacked top end speed. The problem was they played the run so good you were ALWAYS in obvious passing downs and the pass rush was the greatest in the history of the NFL. To build a team like that the saints would need both Peyton Turner and Marcus Davenport to more than fulfil expectations David onyemata would have to stay healthy and you would need a talented DT like Jordan Davis who was just drafted to anchor. Because the game is played different you would need linebackers likePete warner who could read and cover plus run sideline to sideline. I like demarco Jackson a whole lot I think hell start for the saints and be very good. They've got a great defense the saints too with some big time veteran players but don't be fooled they are building a young defense for years now that plays this kind of takeaway style of football . The athletes they've been able to find in the latter portion of the draft and udfas are almost all talented defenders. I think coach Allen definitely has a plan and he has been working toward it for close to five years now. I want to say thats what drove Sean Payton to leave. DA had success and when he did mickey Loomis started to listen to him more and more. I love Sean always will but he had some flaws and he always seemed unwilling to work on them. He fielded some of the leagues all time worst defenses and that wasted a lot of drew Bree's hall of fame career he thought he could control the outcome of EVERYTHING with the passing game and even when it worked the saints underperformed as a team I remember two or three years before DA got back like the year Alex smith and the 49ers beat the saints on the last second in the divisional round or the year they went yo to Seattle and played a 7-9 team QB'd by matt hasselbeck and just got destroyed cause they couldnt stop the run! I'll miss sean not the least of the reasons are #1 he OWNED ATLANTA for 15 years! #2 His teams were exciting and fun to watch #3 he found talent and ways to win where no one else could. ( onside kick in the Superbowl, Pierre Thomas,remember the year Lance Moore went over 1000 yards? Even all the plays taysom hill made in Sean's last three seasons that helped them win games they otherwise wouldn't. MARQUES COLSTON in the SEVENTH ROUND!) I THINK DA definitely has a plan and while I don't think he has a complete roster full of "his guys" yet I'm a true believer in Jameis Winston if he can stay healthy...IF I know for a fact he can take the saints to the playoffs and I also know for a FACT he can string together 3 big games in a row,which is what you need to win the Superbowl. I wanted us to draft Malik Willis for the future,but I guess we missed out on that opportunity.

But I remember thinking that he was a better by far than the guy from I think Ohio State that they drafted in I think the 2nd rd for running back. I knew then that he was a lot better and was hoping the team wouldn't cut him in instead of the other back. Ok I just looked it up, that back was Antonio Pittman and he was from Ohio St. The Saints actually drafted him in the 4th rd. But yeah I felt very good about him making the team that year.

Doesnt matter though Jerry Jones will just throw some more money around theres no shortage of players who Dallas was their favorite team growing up y'all will he alright. Looks like you all done wore out your franchise RB though,early too. May be time to reload in that department other than that and the way you all play the run y'all got no serious problems. Its funny people keep blaming McCarthy and in a way I guess its partly his fault but the problem is #1 your great running back is showing serious signs of wear and tear #2 He was what protected your suspect defense that doesnt play the run well now you all haven't even upgraded at DT or linebacker in the draft. Micah Parsons is great but to me he is more of a talented pass rusher like LT and a "chase" linebacker. You all need some run stuffers to go along with those big play aspects of your defense and some lineman to replace the ones you lost ( who believe it or not were VERY GOOD like Lael Collins etc) and some help for Elliot at RB cause you all are running him in the ground and seem to be determined to do so till the wheels fall off of him. Thats bad strategy, look at how the saints have handled the careers of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, the LIMIT the number of carries and work EXTRA HARD to get them involved in the passing game so they're not getting smashed on every touch or rum in the ground. THATS how you treat a talented running back if you want LASTING SUCCESS from having that talent. Not handing them the ball 25 to 30 times a game like the rams did Todd Gurly or the Titans are doing Derrick Henry ( who is already getting injured and slowing down) and the cowboys are doing to Ezekiel Elliot. You need more of a Marion Barber/ Julio's Jones type of situation. Running a guy till he breaks down physically just ain't smart.

Thats an interesting take...you're the one person ive seen on here that was down on him. I'm not tripping but I'm curious as to why you say that? Reason being is ive followed the draft the last 20+ years and in the days that Micah Hawthorne was drafted I don't remember there being a KZbin to look at his college games on. I find it hard to believe after watching Hawthorne play for the saints he had ANYTHING on his tape like what I just watched smoke do? Just an interesting take I'm just curious why you think that.
