Smokey and the Bandit made the summer of 1977 even more memorable and was the only film to give Star Wars a run for _its_ money. Forty-three years later and the film is more popular than ever.

One of the funniest things I have encountered happened in New York while I was in New Jersey. There was a sweep of bars in the NY Metro. They had found storerooms loaded with New Glarus Brewing Company’s Spotted Cow Beer. I’ve been trying to think up a script for it.

I graduated kindergarten in 1980 and we were to dress up as what we wanted be when we were adults. I dressed up as Snowman, western shirt with the pearl snap buttons, Levi's and cowboy boots and hat. Lol. I ended being a diesel mechanic and later on a truck driver. I grew up in rural Alabama when most of the state was dry. I literally could see 3 of the 5 bootleggers house's on the mountain where I lived. My best friends parents and grandparents were bootleggers. I remember going on beer runs to Huntsville, which was north of the Tennessee river and about 45 miles from my house. My friends dad owned a field line and septic tank business, so he would take one of his dump trucks to Huntsville to a package store and load it up with cases of beer. His wife would be in a lead vehicle, usually a Camaro or Trans Am, to spot for road blocks by the county sheriff. Every vehicle they owned had a CB radio in it. I literally grew up in a Smokey and the Bandit/ Dukes of Hazard type of environment in Lacon, Alabama. The county I grew up in is still dry. Two of cities are wet but the rest of the county is dry.

When that movie came I was attending Oregon institute of technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon which in turn was the home of the Klamath Indian tribe. The Klamath Indians got a big payout from the US government and it wasn’t long before their was so many TransAms in that town that per capita their where more transAms in that town then anywhere in the US. You could literally pull up to a stop light and have 3 T/A’ surround you. It was unbelievable how many T/A’s where in that town. Crazy times🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪👍👍🎱🎱😎

funny thing is, the restaurant they shot that scene in still exists and I happened to go in there the other day after a couple years and they now have the Diablo burger on the menu, they told me it didn't exist before. I asked the waitress how it tasted... she just kept repeating hot, the last thing she said before I fled in fear was that "You could smell the hot on it" I was there 05/16/20 the name of the restaurant is "Old hickory house" and is just east of Atlanta off the 285 bypass for those interested parties. If you look at the scene when they are bagging the food you can actually read the name of the restaurant off the bag they are using

I did not know about Colorado Kool Aide not being pasterized now the whole movie makes sense.. I always thought the need to smuggle Beer East of the Mississippi was a rather weak plot .. There is a Compnay making Modern Trans Ams out of Camaros.. and they Made Some Pro Toruing Trans Ams that were based in 1977 Sheet Metal but have modern engine and suspension 6 speed over drive Transmission..
